Loved by oll for their unusually I-Ove that San Miguel sweet disposition Subic Bay l I Southward to the Philippines, To the port of Suhic Bay. Two times We made the trip. Once in March, again in May. Qnly one night our Hrst time there. But the 2nd trip down was a 10 day The burning sun heat down, The stifling heat held steady. But the Working Went right on To ensure the ship was ready For more, and difficult operationsg For fulfilling our many obligations. We took time to see Olongapo, The growing town outside the gate. And relax with a beer until late. And sometimes at night We'd cool off, affair

Guam At Guam, in the Marianas, A two Week stop was slated. We tied up in the yard, And all hands titivated. With shops and Hoating dry-docks The yard-birds gave us a hand To finish our voyage repairs, And get the Blue ship-shape as planned. At night we'd hit the villages, Or pack the clubs on the base. The people of Guam welcomed us At each and every place. When we got underway, We headed Northwest To meet the challenge Of the West Pac test. Do I know any girls- Okinawa Little Okinawa, Which saw great battles before, Is fairly quiet now When sailors go ashore. And on the clean white beach, That circles the dull, green hills, The Oflicers,, and EM. clubs Were nightly packed to the gills. We made a couple stops there, And neither was very long. The second time we left We steered down towards Hong Kong

We arrived at Hong Kong Island Un a hot morning in June. It was crowded with men of all races As was the nearby Kowloon. Ships of many nations Lay in the harbor at rest. The city itself shows the marks Of the merging of East and West. We remained for week, While Mary Soo cleaned the SideS- We hit the Nite Spots, And side-stepped the guides. The split Chinese skirts Drew a lot of attention, And started ideas We donlt care to mention. We took in our lines, And stood out channel. New clothes filled our lockers, Of cashmere and flannel.
