Guam At Guam, in the Marianas, A two Week stop was slated. We tied up in the yard, And all hands titivated. With shops and Hoating dry-docks The yard-birds gave us a hand To finish our voyage repairs, And get the Blue ship-shape as planned. At night we'd hit the villages, Or pack the clubs on the base. The people of Guam welcomed us At each and every place. When we got underway, We headed Northwest To meet the challenge Of the West Pac test. Do I know any girls- Okinawa Little Okinawa, Which saw great battles before, Is fairly quiet now When sailors go ashore. And on the clean white beach, That circles the dull, green hills, The Oflicers,, and EM. clubs Were nightly packed to the gills. We made a couple stops there, And neither was very long. The second time we left We steered down towards Hong Kong

1 Brisban Brisbane was a fuel stop. The hours we stayed were six. Many were disappointed, Cause there were some real fine chicks. It looked liked the kind of liberty About which sailors dream. But the only ones ashore Were the softball team. Actually that was the best game we ever played .... Our dock was far up a river, in town. We got underway as the sun went down. Now, you wouldn't enioy going, its iust a ship-Ahem, lets go over to your place Now The 5 men working party monster. . . How much is that In green backs? Manus North of New Guinea ls where Manus lies. A tropical island Of no great size. The natives sell coconuts, And barter cat's eyes On the Aussie Army post Of fifty five guys. We took on some gas, And watched the sun rise Then sailed for Guam Under wet windy skies. Bwana ! Hull' ,g , You think they'll attack

Loved by oll for their unusually I-Ove that San Miguel sweet disposition Subic Bay l I Southward to the Philippines, To the port of Suhic Bay. Two times We made the trip. Once in March, again in May. Qnly one night our Hrst time there. But the 2nd trip down was a 10 day The burning sun heat down, The stifling heat held steady. But the Working Went right on To ensure the ship was ready For more, and difficult operationsg For fulfilling our many obligations. We took time to see Olongapo, The growing town outside the gate.
