On the bridge the Quartermaster and Signalmen stand a ceaseless vigil, sending and receiving messages by semaphore, flashing lights, or hoisted flags. They also assist the navigator when the job at hand requires skill, shining especially during the complex manuevers involved during refueling, mooring and general quarters One Deck down, amid a roomful of strange equipment and stranger noises, the dit-dah-dit of the transmitters and the clack of the teletypes, the Radiomen send, receive and route the endless stream of messages, keep us informed on whatis happening to the other parts of the World, and most important of all, handle the crewis mail. And in a cubicle amidships, our Yeomen and Personelman struggle with the seeming tons of paper work. Through the ship's office go official letters, notices, the plan of the day, and all service records.
