We know it is impossible to capture hu- man emotion in words or pictures. It is im- possible to capture the gladness felt after winning a ball game or the sadness of fail- ing a test. On the following pages, however, we have presented the graphic and written details of many of our school experiences, and trust to your recollection and imagi- nation to bring back those feelings both now and in the years to come. To this pur- pose the TIGER STAFF has devoted its effort. P , . David Kinkead, class president, was Master of Ceremonies and we were en- tertained by Ruth Ann Moody, Sona Burchett, Linda Bishop, and Brenda Greene, who sang songs and played the piano. The Junior play, HEALTHY, WEALTHY, AND DUMB, was an outstanding per- formance given in the High School Auditorium. An- other member of our class, Brenda Greene, was se- lected cheerleader to help cheer on the seven Juniors who played Varsity basketball. Barbara Davis was the l958 Basketball Queen, sponsored by the Cheer- leaders. Eighteen Juniors with a scholastic average 27 qt.. of 90 or above were initiated into the Beta Club. Luke Johnson went to Boy's State at Lebanon and Sue O'Dell attended Girl's State held at Murfreesboro. Dorothy Hughes was editor of the Junior edition of the Tigerette and Charles Weaver was assistant editor. The outstanding personalities of the Junior Class were David Kinkead and Imogene Foster, Mr. and Miss Junior. The Senior Class remained true to tradition and began the year by winning the magazine drive and attending a free movie. Mr. Winegar took the meas- urements for class rings and we received them in October. Nine outstanding Seniors in science attended Science Day at King College in Bristol, and toured the College's Science Department for a day. FQ Lee Roy Taylor Nancy Utsman Gwendolyn Wagner Bud Waterman Charles Weaver Helen Weaver Afimwme THE SENIQR CLASS Charles Weaver received a scholarship from King College for his outstanding work in the 4-H Club. Other trips for Seniors are visits to East Tennessee State College and the Tennessee Eastman Company. The excitement of graduating from high school began with ordering invitations and the measuring for caps and gowns. This year the school had a new gym in which to hold physical education classes and ball games, the highlight of sports activities at Blountville. As Seniors we appreciate this new facility more than the other classes because we have been looking forward to hav- ing a band and a new gym for several years, 28 PY' A 'X , 4 ,Nfl 7 f ,L 7, 'lag iw. , 5 iww g.:,v ig: .W2M,... :Lf zK.'ff -4, . f' 1 will , :A 'w-fi: w . THE .IU TIGR CLASS The Junior year is perhaps the turning point in every student's high school career. When students become Juniors, they are no longer lower classmen. To the Seniors, Juniors are the younger sister. They have become acquainted with the requirements of aca- demic work and are adjusted to the hustle of activities. The most important social activity is the Junior-Senior Banquet toward which the Juniors work during the year, raising money. As the Seniors leave high school, the Juniors will take their place and carry on the tradi- tions of the school. The Junior Class this year has lO5 members. Mrs. Mary Eleanor Le- Sueur, Miss Shirley Boyd, and Mr, Kenneth Goff directed the play, The first excitement was getting into costume and applying make-up. Miss Margaret Cox was in charge of the Make-up, and Patsy Hopkins was her assistant, As the perform- ers went on the stage, they didn't for get their parts as they had feared but gave a better performance than they had hoped for. Jerry Sorrell was Neal's oldest friend, Luke Johnson was a representative of the l-lealtha-Vite Company, Bren- da Greene was a hungry sales girl, Tony Blackburn was a radio engin- eerg Linda Bishop was the world's healthiest woman, and Linda Halt was a radio announcer.
