CLASS HISTORY In the year 1947 we saw the doors of Blountulle Hlgh School openlng to admlt the solemn sophomores yumors semors and eager freshmen for the followmg school year The freshmen soon got unto the swlng of thlngs and elected thexr sponsor and class offlcers as follows Mlss Nancv Long sponsor Ed Bollmg pres1dent Mary Ellen Dxxon vlce presldent Mary Ellen Cole secretary and Betty Calhoun treas urer Charmlng Mary Ellen Dlxon was elected the f1rst MISS Iareshman ln the hlstory of Blountvllle I-Ilgh Agaln 1n 48 the doors of the hlgh school swung open and the freshmen of 47 entered as sophomores electlng the fol lowmg sponsor and offlcers Mr Berme Webb sponsor Ed Bollmg presndent aga1n Douglas Barnes vlce presldent Betty Jo Vlcars secretary sweet and prettv Nellne Bradley was elected both treasurer and Mlss Sophomore In 49 when school reopened the yumors looked forward to a bxg year Smce there was so much to do thtv lmmedlately elected thelr sponsors and class offlcers Mlss Nancy Long and Mr Blake Barnes were elected sponsors ame Galluher pres1dent Phvllns Edwards vlce presldent Barbara Crltsel ous secretary and Xvllllim Gross treasurer Lovely Jean Seneker was elected MISS Jumor The flrst blg problem for the yunlors was to secure money to fmance a banquet nn honor of the semors As was the custom the banquet was formal It was held at the General Shelby Hotel 1n Brlstol The next blg problem was the plannmg of the annual jumor play The characters were selected by the sponsors and rehear sals lmmedxately began The play The XVhole Town s Talklng turned out to be very successful Rt the end of the year the class de cxded to have a celebratlon by havnng a p1c n1c It was decxded to go to Hungry Mother Park It was a pleasant endlng for the school y ar The d1gn1f1ed semors of 50 51 entered Blountvllle I-hgh School look1ng forward to a successful year and wlth a strong de te1m1nat1on to graduate the followmg May The sponsors and class offxcers elected Mr Blake Barnes sponsors B111 McKenz1e presrdent Phyllxs Edwards vlce presldent Barbara CfltSClOLlS secretary and Wlllxam Gross treasuler can Seneker was elected Mxss Semor The annual staff was selected and the first bug project of the semors was under way NVe were happy to fmd that we had won the magwme drlve and were entntled to a free movle of our chonce The movle Two Flags Wfest was enjoy ed by all The semors are now look1ng forward to a successful class play and a happy grad uatlon 8 1. l 1 7 C L L I I G 7 7 1 L 6.
