'P' CLASS I-IISTGRY In September 1946, ue entered Blountville High as Freshmen with an enrollment of 127. W'e elected Mrs. Evelyn Harr sponsor: Darlena Sellers, President: Edith Doane, vice-president, Dicky Broyles, Sec- retaryg and Billy Cole, treasurer. The following year, 1947, when we began our Sophomore year we noticed many of our classmates had fallen from our ranks, there were 91 students remaining. A new custom was started at Blountville so we had the privilege of electing Anna Ruth Goodwin as Miss Sophomore. We elected Mr. Chester Isley as sponsor, Carl Elsea president, Margaret Davis vice-presidentg Anna Ruth Goodwin, secretaryg and Edith Doane, treasurer. 'A X In early spring we had a Sophomore party. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wagner led the gates. For refresh- ments we had cokes, hot dogs, ice cream, and cookies. We started our Junior year by electing Miss Bennie Hodges, now Mrs. Don White, as our sponsor: Margie Moody, Miss Junior, Lloyd Harr, president, W'illard Harr, vice-presidentg Helen Faust, secretaryg and Fain Hicks, treasurer. In March the Juniors presented a play Tattletale', which with the help of our sponsors, Mrs. Don W'hite and Miss Nancy Long, was a great success. The cast of the play included Margaret Hagood, Gay Bridwell, Mitchell Deakins, Jo Anne Crane, Billy Claman, Betty Jo Dishner, Billy Cole, Dicky B-royles. Charles Thomas, Erma Harr, Helen Faust, Bob B-unn, Jeanine Crowe, Fain Hicks, Wheeler Mabe, Kenneth W'ade, Lloyd Harr, Jacquie Cooper, Edith Doane, and Mary Gene Prater. Denver Anderson was stage manager. Finally after many months of hard work the Juniors entertained the Seniors at General Shelby Hotel. It was a beautiful scene to see the girls in their evening dresses and for once all thc boys wore ties. The Juniors gave the program. The idea of the Stork Club was carried out with famous radio stars as guests. Bob Hope QBilly Colej, Bing Crosby QBilly Clamanj, jack Benny QStanley Senekerj, Doris Day flluth Marshallj, The Andrew Sisters fHelen Faust, Gay Bridvvell, ,Io Ann Cranej, Walter Win- chcll fI.loyd Harry, and Guest Star, Mr. Hal Carr were there. Fain Hicks furnished the music. At last we became Seniors with an enrollment of 88. Wfe elected Miss Margaret Cox as sponsor: Margie Moody, Miss Senior: Lloyd Harr, president, Wfillard Harr, vice-president, -Io Ann Crane, secre- tary and Jack Leonard, treasurer. About October we started our magazine drive. After several weeks of hard work the Seniors won and as a reward the ones who sold a magazine saw the movie Seabiscuit at Bristol. On December 8, the Seniors spent the day at Tennessee Eastman. W'e heard a talk and saw a movie about the work of the company. Then we went to the lunch room and helped ourselves to all we wanted to eat. After lunch we visited several of the different buildings. January 13 most of the Seniors went to Kingsport to see the movie Hamlet. Vfe enjoyed the movie, even though it was sad and didn't end just like we wanted it to. Now we know that we are near the day when we will be leaving Blountville High. the school that holds so many memories for us, but we are looking forward to taking our place in the world.
