ociety To uphold high moral standards, render generous service, display qualities of good leadership, and maintain above average academic grades are the requirements for N. H. S. membership. During the '54-'55 school year our local chapter has tried hard to attain and maintain these ideals. Our chapter has been active in charity drives - polio, tuberculosis, and cancer. We believe that our efforts have helped influence people to give more generously. On December 3, following the formal initia- tion of new members the chapter entertained at a tea in honor of the initiates, their parents and teachers. N. H. S. sponsored Clean-Up Week, March 7-11. Student-Teacher Day, April 8, gave the teachers a period for observation and stock-taking and the student teacher a day of teaching experience Perennial chapter services are bulletin board dis- plays and the sale of athletic tickets. To defray state convention expenses the chapter sponsored a post-season basketball game that pitted the Juniors against the Seniors. NA'rroNAr. EH? 5 QPQTJL. s Q O 44,0 0.39 NEW YK Bloantstown Chapter Our '54-'55 program of work was planned by Mrs. Evelyn Gaskin, chapter advisor, and chapter officers Joan Parker, Sandra Eldridge, Marcia Ann Redd, and Bernie Wood Taylor, during a summer weekend at Mexico Beach. The chapter's first money-making project was concessions at the Blountstown versus Century football game. Other fund-raisers were Hobo and Car Wash days. Filmstrips were purchased with the major por- tion of the proceeds. In November several chapter members, accompanied by our advisor and three chaperones, partici- pated in the district meeting in Crestview. Teen-Ager's Responsibilities in the Home was the subject discussed during a series of chapter meetings. Mrs. J. D. Redfern and Mrs. Tom Pridgeon, mothers of chapter members, participated in a panel discussion during one meeting, Rev. W. O. Calhoun, Methodist pastor, further developed the topic at another meeting. Wayside Park was the setting for our January oyster supper, which we shared with the F. F. A. chapter. Our annual joint Mother-Daughter, Father-Son Banquet was held in the school lunchroom April 8, with Mr. Marion B. Knight, county representative, as guest-speaker. Joan Parker, chapter president and state vice president fprogram-of-workj, represented us at the State Fair in Tampa and at the state convention in Miami. During the state convention, Joan was awarded her State Homemaker's Degree, she is the first member of our chapter to receive this recogni- tion. Active chapter members are B. S. Adams, M. L.
