Workhouse Andruss Library The stained glass windows adorning the outside of Andruss Library symbolize the quiet found inside where students are dili- gently working. Many are gathered around the large tables, notebooks opened wide, desperately trying to decipher their notes from the class they all slept through. Oth- ers can be found upstairs deeply concen- trating in one of the individual study cubi- cles. Books, periodicals, and journals line the shelves, easily accessible to any student. The newspaper room is amply stocked with news from around the world and pamphlets are available with information on just about any subject. Still more material can be found on microforms and for your listening pleasure, a large selection of albums. But Andruss Library is not just a building of books, it is people. The warm and friend- ly faces in Reader Services invite questions from confused researchers. The folks at the Reserve Desk are more than happy to tell you it ' s only good for an hour, but it can be copied for a nickel a page. And those in circulation are delighted to check you out. Many plans for the upcoming weekend are made in Andruss — but, of course, that only happens during study breaks. 23

Supply Center College Store If you want to sell your old books, buy a new Bloomsburg University sweatshirt, or simply browse through the magazine racks, the College Store is the place to go. Of course, the Store is busiest the first few weeks of the semester — the aisles teeming with people purchasing textbooks, note- books, and other supplies eagerly anticipat- ing the months ahead. Texts are not the only merchandise han- dled. The small grocery section, the Surviv- al Center, is stocked full of basic necessities for hungry studiers, while a wide selection of plaques, posters and novelties can be purchased to enhance any dreary dorm room. The Store also carries paperbacks, magazines, newspapers and a wide variety of greeting cards. This year the College Store did many stu- dents a great service by drastically reduc- ing the prices on BSC clothing. This made it possible for many students to become col- lectors of a never to be repeated clothes line — the BSC apparel. It also allowed the Store to make room for the newest fashions — the BCI line. 22

Making Friends Residence Halls Picture a 20 ' X 15 ' room filled with posters, pillows, a stereo, a cube refrigerator, plants, and all of your most valued possessions and you have a typical dorm room. Bloom ' s homes away from home permit each individual their own space and yet allow for a sense of community with fellow resi- dents. This often creates many challenging experiences for the individual. Dorms partici- pate in homecoming events, mixers, date par- ties, T-shirt contests, and intramurals. The at- mosphere encourages residents to get involved and make friends; even fire drills at 1:30 a.m. can be fun! Going to wing meetings, making popcorn in the halls, carrying your shower bucket, paying your phone bill on time, signing in guests, blasting your stereo, laughing with friends, getting noise violations — it ' s all part of the great experience called dorm life! 24
