This Is The Sport Of Track This year the Bruin Track team had the finest season in the history of the school. Among many of the records set by the legmen were sprints and field events. Mark Washburn set a new school record in both the mile and twofmile race with times of 4:32 and 9:24. Other school records set were John Boring in the 440 with a time of 51:7, Greg Chapman with a time of 127.4 in the 660, and Steve Alvarez with a throw of '51'10 in the shotput event-. A new school record was also set in the mile relay by Robert Garcia, Bill Marchio, Russell Pound and John Boring with a time of 3:33.2. Bill Marcio' also broke the 440 school rec' ord with a time of 51.9. Steve Mermilloid and Chester Bruton helped the team out in the pole vault event. The best performance tumed out by the team was at their' Bloomington Invitational where they captured first in the Junior division and missed hrst by one point in the freshmen division.
