l Students Developed Health Physical Fitness, Personal Skills In Physical Education Classes As the one department in which all students were required to enroll, boys and girls physical education classes stressed the development of health, physical fitness, and skills in those activif ties which can be used in leisure time. A yearflong schedule of intramural activity and an interscholastic program which included competition in eight sports - football, basketball, swimming, wrestling, track, tennis, golf, and baseball - were available for the more athleticf allyfminded. After the completion of a classroom traffic safety course in physical education classes, 240 students received a minimum of six hours of behindfthefvvheel training in driver education classes taught by two instructors. A unit in weight lifting was only one of many individual activities in senior boys physical education classes. Like all others in the first phase of the unit, Paul Wade was closely watched as he lifted the weights. Learning how to fasten a seat belt properly was one of the first learning situations in all driver education classes. Tony Lanme left and Dennis Zogg watched as Cathy Shiers mastered the lesson. Two driver training instructors taught 240 students how to drive after they had completed a unit on traffic safety in the classroom. Mx
