CLASS HIS TOR Y 1953 Freshmen Year 1954 As our class entered the doors to a high school term we were faced with many new acttvlttes that were to be part of our life for four years Our first class meeting was brief The only business on the agenda was the election of the class officers For Prestdent we chose Anthony Magno Our Vice President was Kenneth Cosker Donna Heeber served as Secretary and Patricia Irving as Treasurer At the second class meeting on October 16 1953 the class discussed the possibilities of having our first high school dance We decided to have a sports dance and invite grades ten through twelve The big day for our dance arrived on December 7 at the B H S gym Refreshments were served in the lobby Everyone had a great time An assembly committee for the year was also chosen at our second meeting On this committee were Dtana Attardo Nancy Beman and joseph Caruso Student Council members were jane Fine and Joyce Cutler ln june of 1954 we ended our first exciting year of high school 1954 Sophomore Class 1955 Our second high school year started off very quickly and on September 23 1954 our first Sophomore class meetmg was held We were mtroduced to our class advisors Mrs Eleanor Fisher and Mr Freeman Pearlmutter and immediately we elected our class officers The results of our meeting ended with Anthony Magno as President with Alvin Powell to assist him Diana Attardo was Secretary and Marcla Aronson collected the dues Our Student Council members were james Callahan Hector LaChapelle Lilian Brightman and Leo Charrzione We also declded to start work on our dance for the year The class decided upon a circus theme and named the dance the Mardi Gras Costumes were to be worn and a prize of two tickets to a show at the State Theater and a chicken dinner at the Maple Hill Restaurant were to be awarded for the most or1g1nal costume This dance was held on March 28 and it proved a wonderful success Many original costumes appeared and the first prize went to Phil Maher who came dressed as Davy Crockett We also participated in the magazme drne made our goal and increased the amount in our treasury considerably It was une and we were ready to become upper classmen 1955 Iumor Year 1956 It was a bewildered group of juniors that entered the new unfinnshed high school in September 1955 At first confusion reigned but those days contann many happy memories hectic bus rides down to the old school for gym and industrial art classes Mrs Tavener faithfully ringing a cowbell at the end of each period classes held in different classrooms each day Our selection of class officers was a vote of confidence for Tony Magno Alvtn Powell and Diana Attado who were re elected as President Vice President and Secre tary respectively Hector LaChapelle was chosen as Treasurer Nancy Beman Altce Warrrng Patty Irving Leo Chartznone Howle Nielsen and Mnke Golub were chosen to represent us 1n the Student Council and Class Prestdent Tony Magno was elected Vice President of this organization In November six proud puntors were inducted into the Bloomfield chapter of the National Honor Society at a ceremony held at the Vincent School They were ean 26 1 , ,a . Angelo Michael Golub Leelame Rowe Ellen Sexton Donald Smith and Esther Wood or The Collegiate Hop an informal dance held at the Blue Hills School on February 27 was a financial and social success Music was on records and intermission entertain ment was supplied by the juniorettes and the Checkers two singing groups Diana Attardo with a demonstration of the Charleston and the piano playing of Don Barnard With the spring came plans for our Starlight Prom Co operation on the dance was wonderful and nearly everybody was present as we decorated the Vincent Auditorium with our class colors of green and silver Special credit must be given the COITIIDIIICC chairmen Lee Rowe and jean Angelo Invitations were handled by Lilian Brightman publicity by Ann Wall orchestra arrangements by Leo Charizione refreshments by jacki Nargi decorations by Penny Decker and joey Caruso programs by Michael Golub and reservations by Nancy Beman May 26 was the night of nights Music was supplied by Pat Burd Valerie Koch was chosen Queen and Walter Neuhauser was selected King of the Prom Members of the Royal Court were Pauline Fontaine Patti Harper Alice Warrtng and Diana Attardo Late in the year at an awards assembly Michael Golub and Donald Smith were chosen to the BHS representatives at Nutmeg Boys State and Leelaine Rowe and Alice Warrmg were chosen to attend Laurel Girls State It was the last day of school and the cry was Now we re Seniors' 1956 Semor Year 1957 Entering our senior year we took pride in the fact that we would be the first grad uating class to have spent a full year in the completed high school and we would be the first graduating class to be able to have its members compete on new sport fields and in a new gymnasium As we were to be the last of the small classes at BHS we also took senior year At our first class meeting Alvin Powell was chosen Class President Tony Magno was elected Vice President Valerie Koch became Secretary and Hector LaChapelle was reacclaimed to his position of keeper of the exchequer In addition Alvm Powell Patty Irving Penny Decker Diana Attardo Leo Charizione and Dick Juda were selected to become members of the Student Council Alvin was chosen Council President Leo was elected Vice President and Patty was endorsed as Secretary The annual senior dance Club Serenade was held on December 22 at the Vincent Auditorium Dancing was to the music of Lou Gagnons Orchestra Joey Caruso was general chairman in charge of the dance Ed Glazer headed the ticket committee jean Angelo led the decorations committee jane Fine arranged for refreshments Anne Wall led the group which publicized the dance Patty Irving was cleanup committee chairman Leo Charizione was entertainment chairman and Valerie Koch headed invitations Featured during the intermission were the trumpet playing of master of ceremonies Leo Charizlone the music of the Crescents and the singing of the uniorettes and a trio composed of Esther Woodford Jane Fine and Roland Andrews The high pomt of the evening was reached with the announcement of Donna Heeber as Miss Serenade of 1957 The assistance of our class advisors Miss Catherine Hubbard and Mr Vmcent Gagliarducci was a great help to our class in our last two years and they were mstru mental in laying our plans for our class play the banquet outmg Baccalaureate and the Graduation exercises As we the class of 1957 leave Bloomfield High School we know we shall always remember these actrvities and the lasting friendships we have made with the members of the student body and the faculty 27 7 7 r 1 ' s ' f d. 7 , I . . . .
