STUDE T PRI TS
The spirit of Bloomfield High School is reflected in the issues of the school paper,
the STUDENT PRINTS. Here a complete coverage of all school activities is written
up by an efficient student staff. Ten issues of the PRINTS are published each year. The
editor-in-chief and the associate editor plan an interesting news layout for the first and
third pages, while the feature editor takes care of the second page. The sports editor
gathers the sports news for the fourth page. Each editor has numerous jobs to fulfill-
namely, make up the page, send out assignments, edit articles, write headlines, and read
proof. The art editor sees to it that certain subjects are illustrated by clever cartoons.
The photography editors job is to take different pictures for the PRINTS. The ex-
change editor keeps in contact with the school papers in the surrounding high schools.
During the year the editors and some staff members attend different press con-
ferences. The main conference of the year is the Columbia Press Conference held at
Columbia University. At this conference. which lasts three days, several meetings are
held to discuss various phases of journalism. Each member attends separate meetings
so that more information is gathered. Different lectures and panel discussions are given
to the entire group. Ifach paper is rated on the bases of typography, heads, news stories,
editorials, sports, features, and advertising. Honors are given to better papers. The con-
vention is terminated by a luncheon at the XX!aldorf Astoria Hotel.
The members of the STUDIZNT PRINTS staff are proud to be a part of B. H. S.
school life and to be able to write about it in the paper.”
