611155 zsfnry For four years we have been clrmbrng the ladder of success Many of the steps were hard to make, but slowly and surely we have frnally reached the top And now as we pause for breath, 1et's look back down the many steps and recall together the many happy memorres that wrll lrve forever In the fall of 1949 160 happy and exerted boys and grrls entered BCHS as Freshmen For our class offrcers four boys were chosen Lewrs Roberson presrdent Charles Rams, vrce presrdent Ledford Keener secre tary and Dale Crane treasurer As the year raprdly progressed we settled down and became hard work rng students wrth the help of our two sponsors Mrs Mary Baker and Mrs Gertrude Roach When we clrmbed to the second rung of the ladder our class had dropped to 95 Agarn, Lewrs Roberson was chosen for class presrdent Albert Roberts was vrce presrdent Becky Lee, secretary and Barbara Cooper treasurer Thrs year proved successful and rn the Who s Who contest Lewrs Roberson was elected the Best Athlete and the Best All Around and who should get the Best Actor but our own Grady Wrllrams who had starred rn the Beta play of Tom Sawyer We also added to our class funds by wm mng 1n the class tournament Durrng thrs year our hearts were made sad by the death of one of our class mates Roland Smrth but we were strll clrmbrng wrth the gurdance of our two sponsors, Mrs Mary Baker and Mr Davrd Bayless As we reached the thrrd rung on the ladder strll more of our classmates had fallen back down the steps Lewrs Roberson was elected presrdent Robert Welch vice presrdent Albert Roberts, treasurer and a new comer Dorrs Housley, was elected secretary As we were nearrng the top we became more than ever rn Boy Barbara Cooper recerved the Best All Around and Most Popular Grrl Vance Crawford was selected Best All Around Boy and the Best Boy Athlete Lewrs Roberson recerved Most Popular Boy Albert Roberts was chosen as the Most Courteous Boy and Allrson flalookerj Natl was selected as the Wrttrest Boy When the medals were grven Jeanette Lewrs recerved the Spamsh medal Tommy Swaf ford the mathematrcs James W Swafford the Bausch Lomb Grady Wrllrams the scrence medal and Wrllre Grace McM1ll1on the Physrcal Educatlon medal Mary Frances Greer was elected FFA Queen and Mrldred Hollrday was crowned Football Queen Agarn, we won the class tournament by defeatrng the senrors Our Junror play entrtled Weddrng Spells, proved to be a great success under the drrectron of our two co operatrve sponsors Mrs Mary Baker and Mrs Blanche Standefer Now we have clrmbed to the last rung of the ladder' Matrrmony slrpped rnto our class room and captured seven grrls and two boys leavmg us '76 students the largest class to ever graduate from Bledsoe County l-hgh School For our last class presrdent we elected Robert Welch Grady Wrllrams was elected vrce presr dent and Joe Ann Wood secretary and treasurer Wrth the help of our two sponsors Mrs Mary Baker and Mrs Blanche Standefer we were able to grve a good play pubhsh a good annual and have a wonderful graduatron Even though the years wrll pass on and we shall go wrth them we wrll never forget our happy days at Bledsoe County Hrgh School 0 l . 0 : . . .
