On Saturday morning, September eighth, 86 sleepy-eyed seniors trudged aboard two buses. Expectations were high, everyone anticipating an incredible three day, two night weekend of fun and friendship. The ride to Camp Warren, in Eveleth. Minnesota breezed by, thanks to good conversation, hot poker games, and a fantastic pitstop at Toby's Diner in Hinckley. During the weekend, each senior had two dyads” so that he or she could get to know two people with whom he or she had never really talked. Class president Mike Shogren's pairings had the right chemistry, and everyone came back smiling. The Senior Weekend committee organized activities such as a Saturday night service, a great campfire, hilarious skits, and an incredible afternoon of Olympic events, all of which provided for unforgettable laughs and newly found unity among friends. The class even got in to some good down home fun with a square dance, hosted by a professional caller. Most importantly, the class as a whole, and in smaller discussion groups discussed its goals and expectations for the year. Talks by president John Stander, and Upper School Director Dan Danielson also stimulated discussion about change and how to deal with it. Seniors helped in a ser- vice project for the camp The class took time to help clear brush and trees for the Blake Cross Country Trail at Camp Warren. Of course, the weekend was not all serious. During their spare time, seniors swam (borped), sailed, canoed, and even played mumblypeg. an ancient game introduced by Mr. Knutson. Viscious nocturnal cabin raids with weapons such as shaving cream and honey also were a hit. Summing up the class' feelings. Karin Mesna said, After having renewed old friendships and made new ones, I really feel as if I know the whole class.” Senior Weekend 15

ADMINISTRATION CHANGES TO A NEW BEAT Although the new members of the administration have only been in their specific positions for a year, their vast experience in education was evident as they forged ahead in many areas, such as numerous policy changes. Dan Danielson has served the Blake Schools for many years as a chemistry teacher and a college advisor. In his new job as the Director of the Upper School, Danielson has drawn upon his close relationships with both faculty and students to bring them even closer together. John Stander, as the new President of the Blake Schools, has been very visible within the Blake community and has succeeded in understanding what Blake Spirit is all about. Other new faces in the main office include Kathy Glaeser, Danielson's personal secretary, Shelley Kleberg and Stephanie Kruger. They have helped tremendously to make the school run more efficiently. Russell Hilliard temporarily gave up some of his Spanish classes in order to fill Marilyn Marn's position in Student Services while she was on maternity leave. 1.)
