TO THE ONE WE LOVE CHARLIE SPARKY SEEL We, the 1985 yearbook staff, wish to dedicate this year's edition of Reflections with love and respect to Mr. Charlie Seel. Charlie Sparky” Seel has been with The Blake Schools since 1968 as a devoted teacher, administrator, college counselor, and coach. Affectionately known as Sparky,” named after Sparky the Seal” at the Como Zoo, his true concern for the Blake community is felt in his enthusiasm for every job he tackles. Mr. Seel has coached many successful soccer teams. His players describe their coach's character and style as a combination of positive encouragement, high expectations, a lot of hard work, and always good for a laugh.” Even with his busy schedule, Mr. Seel is always generous with his time whether it is helping a student with a schedule change or giving special attention to a senior going through the college selection process. Mr. Seel's concern for the Blake community reaches far beyond his day-to-day responsibilities. He seems to care and make an effort to know every student. The frequently heard Sparky” greeting, How's it goin' today, gang?” helps to brighten up those not-so-great days every Blake student experiences from time to time. Mr. Seel is always quick to encourage a dream, console a failure, and congratulate a success. After every soccer game, Mr. Seel awards the 110% Award to a deserving player. This award is given to that player wno has given 110% of himself for the team. This team must be built on skill, but also on the determination, desire, and dedication to be a winner.” The 1985 yearbook staff finds it especially fitting to present the 110% Award to Mr. Seel for his undying enthusiasm and his tremendous devotion to The Blake Schools. We thank you Sparky,” for adding one more special Song in the Key of Blake. Dedication • 7
