IN THE FIRST FORM The class of 1942 first entered these dim halls way hack in 1930. Heffelfinger M., with an apple in each hand, Richards, Dobson, Dayton, and Barbour, entered the First Form of the Junior School at that distant date. Since then the class has grown tremendously, adding twenty-eight names to the list of unfortunates. This year our class carried more than its share of the school program, participating in dramatics, music, publications, and athletics. Seniors comprised the majority of the players on all the varsity teams and have won more athletic sweaters than have the members of any former Senior Class. Recovering from our habitual seventh place in the school scholarship ranking which our class has held in previous years, this year we often topped the school scholastically. Spencer and Habermann have lead the class. In years to come we will pursue widely differing paths through life. but. no matter what the task, it will be difficult to equal that record which we have made here at Blake. IN THE FIFTH FORM

SENIORS HENRY DEACON BARBOUR Hank Minnesota Each man reaps on his own farm.” —Plautus I f at the lunch table an excited debate should lie heard about the relative merits of modern airplanes, Hank Barbour will usually he found in its midst. Hank's interest in aeronautics does not stop at the discussion group, however. When vacation-time rolls around, he is off to the flying field in pursuance of his principal hobby. He has already obtained his student-pilot’s license and is now working for the next degree, that of a private pilot. Joining the class way back in the Second Grade of the Junior School, Hank has always l een of the steady plugging type of student. He has had to work hard for every point in his grade. In athletics, too. he has lx en of the consistent hard-working sort. Playing in the line. Hank has made his football letter on every team from the “C” team up. Last fall he finished up his football career at Blake with a Varsity B”. Though never a talented actor or singer. Hank has always been present at the Plays or Concerts to give a helping hand to set the stage or manage the lighting and other necessities. During the summer time he retreats to nature’s wonderland (Taylor’s Falls to the uninitiated). There he gets into training for football by working on the farm. But Hank spends most of his vacation as a counsellor at Camp Carlos. Xext year at the University of Minnesota, he plans to continue the scientific course he has l een taking at Blake and to become an electrical engineer. With this specialized training Hank hopes to enter the Army Air Corps and “Keep ’Em Flying”. (We wish him all good luck.) THE CALL O' PAN OF
