Do you remember the lockers wlth the comblnatlon locks? We had the locker numbers to remember along wlth the locatlon and the eluslve confuslng comblnatlons of the lock At the close of our Jumor year the Methodlst Church Gymnaslum was the scene for the annual Jumor Senior reception Dutch decoratlons were carrled out 1n blue and whlte colors with a windmill erected ln the center of the gym Al Jennmg s orchestra was seated beside the w1ndm1ll Another windmill was used to serve refreshments to us Betty Randall was 1n charge of the receptlon A welcomlng address was glven by Hart Wrlght Jumor class president and the response was glven by Neal Savage presldent of the Senior class Those ln the receiving line were Hart Wright Betty Randall Don Garton Dorothy Mclnturff Helen Lentz Mlss Benlta Mossman and Fenton McAllister For our Sen1or year the Blackwell Hlgh School held a dmner party 1n the Methodlst Church basement wlth the ladles preparing the dlnner Special guests were Mr and Mrs Harry Huston Mr and Mrs Arch Thompson Miss Josephine Bell Mrs Glen Henderson and the class sponsors Miss Eva Young and Mr Glen Henderson The five long tables were beautifully decorated w1th Maroon and White colors suggestlng Commence ment tlme Helen Jane Woodward and Dorothy Stewart were ln charge of decoratlons Followlng the dlnner the class accepted the 1nv1tat1on of Mr F C Jackson to see the show at the Palace Theater Our athletes our Band and Chorus won so many trophles durmg our Sen1or year It sounds reasonable that a new Hlgh School should be bullt to display them all Remember Wzth Me The Following Events We were born during World War I we can remember the crash of Wall Street IH 1929 we experienced the depression and the dust bowl days in the 20 s we can remember the first radlo that we were ever prlvlleged to hear two passenger alrplanes the first car our family owned when electr1c lights replaced gas llghts and coal o1l lamps then lovely cool electric lrons replaced the hot flat sad iron when automatic washlng machlnes replaced the wash tubs wash boards and home made soap when refrlgerators with had to add the color when moving plcture shows with sound and color replaced sllent movles when It was almost a mlracle to own our first black and whlte TV We were very much a part of World War II the draft ration cards much moving about long lines to purchase scarce ltems Then a few years later our sons and daughters were a vltal part of the Korean War then Vletnam We went from the horse and wagon era to actually v1ew1ng on our TV screen the first man to land on the Moon We heard airplanes break the sound barrler we know about robots microfilm and computers that record everything And we know the horrors of the Atom and Hydrogen bombs Our religious freedom IS preclous to us we are proud of the U S A of our Flag We are not ashamed of being sentlmental when we hear the Natlonal Anthem We are looking forward to the 21st Century and being an important part of the future D Y R b .7 By Belva Crzst Ballmger 0 OU einem el' ell.
