Black Student Union , , Run by Mr. Anthony Green, the BSU has been around since the 80's and it's better than ever! The club while titled Black Student Union, is actually made up of different ethnicities. All the memebers consider the BSU a family and they act as one too. Every year they put on an amazing performance that always has a different topic and educates the school on that topic concerning the African American experience. ,wh Laureina Toler and Brandon Pinkard-Scott show their sing- ing skills by blowing everyone away with their groovy vocals during the Black History Month Assembly. 30 Mr. Green, the club director, educates the student body on the history of hip-hop.

Book Club 4-6 ..- E 'Y I . I in fi.. The Bishop O'Dowd Book Club is a group of thirty students who meet once a month to discuss literature. Christopher Joh son, Sarah Fong, and Anna Cavagnaro head this student-run club. Each meeting consists oflively discussion, snacks, and voting for the next selection. The Book Club reads an assortment of books from classics to modern literature and the discu sion varies from personal connections to literary analysis. Students are given the opportunity to interpret and express their ideas on literature in an environment where their opinions are valued. The Book Club encourages students to read books more often and think seriously about what they are reading. 32
