CLOSE-UP In January, 17 O,Dowd students braved the snow and went to Washington D.C.. Mrs. Sussman led the trip as usual. The Close-up Foundationls goal is to give high school students a chance to explore the American government and Washington. There was a special focus this year, students from the former Soviet Union were there with us. Hlt was interesting to see that students from Russia are a lot like we are in American, said Senior Mary Maxwell. Some highlights of the trip included the U.S. National Holocaust Museum, the Smithsonian, Capitol Hill Day, touring the Monuments, the Hard Rock Cafe, a tive minute stop at the White House, the snowball fight, the F.B.I. building, the Vermeer exhibit, Georgetown University, Theatre Night, Shear Madness, the Supreme Court, the Keynote nap and meeting our Senatorls assistants.
