Retreats Build A retreat is a time when one can relax, forget all their problems, make new friends, and discover some new things about others and well as themselves. This is what O'Dowd retreats are all about. Freshmen and sophomores participate in day retreats at Holy Redeemer, while juniors and seniors go on weekend retreats to the Christian Brothers retr-eat house. Moderator Brian Judd, the teachers, and the retreat teams coordinate these get-a-ways. Retreats are a very emotional time because students relate to each other on a different level than they do at school. O,Dowd is unique because it offers these retreats to its students. College Night is a special event hosted by the Counseling Department where O'Dowd students have the opportunity to meet representatives from colleges around the country. It is a chance for students to talk to these representatives and learn more about the colleges they hope to attend and to discover colleges that were unknown to them. Students learn how to apply and when to apply. Speakers discuss the importance of college and encourage students to begin thinking about college. College Night helps students, as well as parents, become aware of the opportunities that are available to them in the college world. Looking to the Future 28 STUDENT LIFE
