5th Annual Swing Choir Contest The Fifth Annual Bishop Luers Mid- west Swing Choir Contest was held on Feb. 24, 1979. Out of the twenty schools competing, six were chosen to perform at the sing off that night. The Carmel Ambassadors were awarded first place and also received the best vocal award. Sec- ond place went to the Marion 26th St. Singers, and also the best show award. Third place was given to Nor- throp Charisma ' 79, fourth to the Anderson Singers Unlimitted, fifth to the Noblesville Singers and sixth place went to the Norwell Swing Set ' 79. Thanks to the music dept. for putting this whole program together — it was truly a success!! Anderson Singers Unlimitted present Godspell ' Mayor Armstrong proclaims the day Swing Choir Day . The Norwell Swing Set is set for swinging! Noblesville Singers sing out. Northrop Charisma ' 79 do a funeral dirge. 28 SPIRIT

Students Receive Honors The Honor Awards Banquet was held this year on the evening of May 2. It is a special night set aside to honor those students who have scholastic recognition with an 8.0 grade aver- age all year. The gymnasium was packed with numberous students and parents attending. The guest speaker was the President of Indi- ana State University. Many scholar- ships and awards were received yet each student showed outstanding achievement by simply being pre- sent. Such a large crowd easily becomes restless. Mike Stronczek is announced Valedictorian. The President of Indiana State University. Sheila Roesler our Salutatorian.
