ln 'MWF' Although sports and other activities play a major part in the sojourn of a young Christian at Loughlin, the most important activities, those which help to mold a Catholic character, are the spiritual activities, which take place under the supervision of Brother Arnold of Mary. Carefully spread throughout the school year, these activi- ties are designed to keep ever-present the religious theme which is predominant at Loughlin. Foremost among the spiritual activities are the re- treat, Triduum and the monthly Archconfraternity meet- ing. In addition to these there are many vocational talks by our own and by visiting Religious, in which students, unresolved concerning their vocations, are aided in mak- ing up their minds. Upon close scrutiny, therefore, it may be seen that Lough1in's spiritual activities are so designed as to keep the ideals of religion paramount in the student's mind. Rev. Brother I. Raphael F. S. RNS! A 1. Reagan, K. Casey, S. Rizzo, S. Batthany discuss the rules for future members. B1 other Michael gives Auxiliary check to the Principal, Brother Paul. ?rother Richard presents Steve Rizzo with La Salle Club etter. ASK .1 SML Chl The newest addition to Loughlin's ex- tra-curricular program is the La Salle Club, inaugurated in order to reward those boys who perform outstanding work during the annual Auxiliary Drive. Direction of the Club was undertaken by Brother C. Richard. The new organization met with en- thusiastic response, with this year's en- rollment totaling 401 students, and rep- resenting 81 seniors, 105 juniors, 101 sophomores, and 114 freshmen. The four individuals who amassed the highest totals in their respective years became the presidents of their divisions, while those who sold the most subscriptions became vice-presidents. In addition, each class has its individual representatives. The chief benefit enjoyed by members is the reception of a major letter, which bears the distinctive design of the club. The La Salle Club is but an outward manifestation of the spirit which under- lies Loughlin. It bespeaks the many students who appreciate the splendid work and unfailing devotion of the Brothers, and are therefore willing to de- vote a little time and effort to help them continue their work in the best tradi- tions of Christian education.
