AME RICAN CENTENARY 41, 1.1--NNN X 0 'V Ocyg QNC9 CH Nineteen hundred forty eight the year of our 2 graduation is also one of great jubilee for the men who have been our devoted teachers dur mg the past four years Founded in France in 1680 by Salnt john Baptist De La Salle the Brothers of the Chris tain Schools were soon known across the breadth of Europe for their intense faith earnest zeal and methodical procedure 1n the education of boys In 1845 with more than a century and a half of courageous tradition behmd them the Chris tian Brothers extended their fields of labor here to America Schools were opened in rapid succession in Baltimore Philadelphia schools and commercial academies military scrools and orphan asylums Today in five flourishlng provinces some 97 schools academies and colleges conducted by the Christian Brothers are pulsing with the l1fe of Catholic youth From these same schools have flowed countless American Catholic alumni mclud ing Cardinals archblshops bishops priests brothers Catholic statesmen pro fessional men and the ordinary average citizen whose daily living makes him an apostle of good example That which has been done for those who have gone before us has also been done for us and will contmue to be done for those who are to follow Therefore we the Senior Class of 1948 dedlcate this soux emr of our high school days to the men who have dedicated their lives to our spiritual intellectual physical and social well being 8 I zz. s he Ln .
