The team had a rough season, they finished with a record of 3-6. The three victories of the year came against Pryor, Tahle- quah, and Webster. The first win came against Pryor. Kelley travelled to Pryor and returned with a 9-2 victory over the Tigers. The Comets next victory came against Tahlequah, as the Comets won 3-2 in penalty kicks. The final win was a 7-0 thrashing of Webster. 4 . Relays Lead Girls Track The girls track team was very young this season. Theresa Jones was the only Senior runner. However, a group of talented v underclassmen helped Kelley qualify nine girls for the state 5, Q if 6 3 Q We f' I' meet. Ap Q . X l . we X l Jones led the state qualifiers as she qualified for state in the ' 'Q V Q ' ' S 800 and the 2 mile relay. This was the third time Jones had run 1 , ,,:i,i 5 V ,.,s in the state meet. Jones, Jenn Nasser, Brid et Ishmael and All ,, . ,J Q Y g . 'M is Stacy Nyikos made up the state-qualifying 2 mile relay team. , Q X re in qty ' Kelleyls 400 relay team also reached the state meet. The team T was made up of Lauri Zigrang, Annette McClain, Teresa Hill, W' 'sv' yy and Carey Arns. Hill and McClain also made it to state in the 2000 and 400, respectively. Girls Finish With Heartbreak Despite high hopes and a winter of hard work, the Kelley girls, soccer team ended its season with two disappointing defeats in division play. After winning their first three games, one against Broken Arrow and two against Bixby, the Comets suffered a heartbreaking tie with Washington, as the Hornets tied the score with seconds remaining in the game. Following victories over Monte Cassino and Memorial, the girls played Edison. Playing in high wind throughout, the girls lost in a shootout. The girls closed their season with a loss to Jenks. Injuries and poor practice weather hampered the Comets, but the girls displayed fine effort all year.
