Injuries Riddle oftball Team s Inexperience and injury took its toll on the 1984- Comette soft- ball team as they finished their season with an 8-13 record. Despite the losing record, there were several highlights throughout the season. The team placed third is both the Norman and Conference tour- naments. ,luniors first baseman Sheila 0'Brien, third baseman Sarah Rhoads, and senior second baseman Jill Rottschaefer were selected to the first ever All-Conference team for their outstanding play in the tournament. Rottschaefer was eventually named to the All- District team and chosen to play in the All-State game, also a first time event. Behind strong hitting and the pitching of senior Melissa Bond, the girls got off to a 4-1 start. However, injuries hit the Comettes and they ended the season with four players out of position. Senior catcher Gina Dean broke her finger, knocking her out for several weeks, while senior shortstop Mary Raczkowski played only two games before becoming ill and missing the rest of the season. Other starters were juniors Erin Stoever, who moved from first base to shortstop in Raczkowskfs absence, Lori Warning, who played both outfield and catcher, and the only sophomore starter, centerfielder Melissa Hughes. Juniors Dianne Haight, Catherine Craig, Michelle LaFortune, and freshmen Kati Tomasi, Laura Scattergood and Rosemary Stallbaumer provided utility play. At right, Melissa Bond doubles as pitcher and slugger.

J.V. ports 7-0-1 Record The 1984 J.V. football team finished the season undefeated. However, a season ending tie to Bixby was the only blemish on their 7-0-1 season. Led by Coaches Weeldryer and Begnel, the Comets were able to salvage a tie against Bixby with a late come- back. Although few people saw them play during the season, the future for Kelley football looks promising as this team takes over the Varsity level next year. 1 Scott White breaks free on an 80-yard touchdown reception against Pryor. 2 The J.V. defense plays havoc with Rogers runningback. 3 Quarterback Philip Boone shows the classic dropback style. 4- Runningback Richard Williams looks inside for extra yardage in the Comets' victory over Pryor. .291 '4 1?
