After a party on the night of November 21,1986, on their way back to their hotel, varsity players, Marty Cordova, Pat Rajsky and Robbie Kolesar watched in horror as a raging fire broke out at a nearby three story house. We didn't even think about the football game, we just wanted to hep the people trapped inside, said junior Ro ie Kolesar. All three players elled at their cab driver to pull over as they realized that neither the police nor the fire department ad arrived at the scene. Marty and Pat tried to hoist me through the second story window, but half wa through, Pat realized l woufcl be en- gulfed in flames, so they pulled me back out, said Robbie. At the same time, a nei hbor ran over and threw a blaniet at the football players' feet. We picked up the blanket yelling for those people trapped inside to jump into it, Ro ie stated. Once the football players had rescued everyone, and the fire department arrived, the trio left the scene of the fire without much notice. Pat had realized it was 11:55 P.M.- five minutes before curfew, and that Coach Chuck Gerber would be upset if the three were out East 12:00 midnight. As Rob ie put it we just didn't have time for thank- you's. 11 Spiros Filios and Rusty Graf lead the offen- sive charge against the Bonanza Bengals. 2l Special teams star Brent Michaels prepares to bash the Bengals on the opening kick-off. 31 All-Conference receiver Marty Cordova shows Valley why he was the Most Valuable Sunset Division player as he catches pass after pass against the Vikings.
