After a thrill-packed season Gorman's Gaels found themselves in a four way tie for first place with Las Vegas, Rancho, and Western. The toss of the coin gave Gorman a fourth place berth in the tournament, and the Gaels opened zone play in a game with Basic, and Won by a score of 69-62. This victory Won the Gaels the chance to meet Rancho the fol- lowing night. Led by Larry Shindler's 23 pts., along with 13 each for Frank Kott and Pat McGroarty and l2 for Doug Du Charme, the Gaels ran over the Rams, 62-53. Gorman put together a torrid fast break and overcame a Rancho full court press to gain a berth not only in zone finals but also in State. Saturday, March 7, Bishop Gorman played for Southern Zone Championship in the Gaels' first year of 'AA' Competition. Their opponent was to be powerful Western in the Convention Center. The first half was nip and tuck with Western leading 30-26 at halftime. The Gaels came back in the third period, utilizing a fast break to tie and then go ahead on free shots by Frank Koot. The Gaels had a 42-40 lead at the end of the quarter, and the ex- change continued until Gorman's ace rebounder Doug Ducharme, fouled out with 3 lf2 minutes remaining. After much stalling, several fouls, and missed foul shots the buzzer ended the game giving the Warriors a 53-51 victory over Gorman. High scorers were Larry Shindler with 17, Frank Koot with 13, and Doug Du- Charme with 19 .

Falkensteins FRESHME BA KETBALL To many the Freshmen team may mean little and their efforts may seem insignificant .... not worthy of serious attention. This should not be so, however, for from the ranks of the Freshmen basketball team, come the future champions of the sport. Coach Stueber has done well by Gorman and his squad this year, as proven by an excellent season record and good sportsmanship. In the years to come, these same Freshmen will represent Gorman as a polished basket- ball team, one Worthy of praise.
