Thoughts on Senior Year — We all learned 963 vocabulary words during the fall of ’79, but the most im- portant one was left out — senior, noun — insanity. If you took the time to look around craziness was everywhere . . . Seniors are a strange bunch of peo- ple. They don’t know if they’re kids or adults. The fun of Senior year is trying to be both . . . People say we’re going through a phase. I’d rather be in the middle of a phase, than stagnant in a generation not right for me . . . “GOOD MORNING! Today we are on a G mod schedule. There will be a meet- ing of the Gomet staff in Mr. Lynch’s room after school today. Would Rick Lavoie and Mark Smith please see Brother Richard sometime today. Our journey began in the early 60’s. It was a period of great social unrest. Our nation had lost the youngest president ever elected to an assassin’s bullet. It was a time of promise for youth, and youth was to be heard. The “Establishment” had to answer for its decisions. The Civil Rights movement made great strides in its fight for equality, but at great cost. It was also a time of great technological advancement. Man conquered and explored the last frontier, and in July of 1969 man step- ped on the moon. We were all witness to this through the miracle of television, and this miracle also let us witness first hand our country at war. Viet Nam awakened in us a new reality. Yes we were getting older and we were apprehensive about the future. We were now aware of such things as prejudice, recession, depression and inflation. Probably one of the first deci- sions we really shared in was deciding where we would continue our secondary education. There were several options open, but for us Fenwick was the choice. After much anticipation September of 1976 ar- rived. It was a period of discovering and making new friends — a time to explore personal interests and ca- reer paths. Fenwick expanded our world, shaped our ideals and values, and made us realize our capabilities. As travelers we are saddened that this part of our journey is over. Yes, we can come back, but it will never be the same. As we continue our journey, each of us on a different path, we take with us memories of special moments shared during our four years. How much is a sunset worth? There are such things as a sunset or a beautiful sunrise that have no price. Their value is what they do for you or to you. Each one of us has only so many sunsets and sunrises. Let us learn to enjoy them each day to the fullest.
