Basketball Bishop Donahue has good reason to be proud of her varsity' team of '63, Under the excellent instruction of Coach O'Connell the Bishops finished their regular season with a record of 12 wins and 7 losses, averaging 59 points per game. A brief look at the tournaments: Down State the Bishops met tough opposition while playing against Charleston Catholic. Through- out the first quarter the Bishops matched their opponents point for point, but early in the second quarter Charleston kept themselves on top. With a final spurt of energy the Bishops fought their way to make the halftime score Bishops 29, Charleston 30. At the end of the fourth quarter the score was tied 49-49. ln the fast and furious overtime which followed the Bishops sadly went down in defeat 53-56. The Bishop's Reserve Team under Coach Niegemeyer wasn't as successful as the varsity and strangely enough finished their regular season with a reverse of the varsity record 12 losses and 7 wins. We wish them a better season next year. The Freshman squad coached by Mr. O,Connell played only three games this year, beating Moundsville twice and losing their last game to Bellaire. The ,63 season marks Donahue's fifth year of basketball and one of her best. To you Seniors of our team: Congratulations for your efforts of the past season and good .' luck for the future. To you Underclassmen: Keep up the spirit of good sportsmanship whether you win or lose.
