Their activities ranged from the U of A Band Day and marching during games CID, to putting on a spring concert. Class rehearsals OD, were used for both concert arrangements and songs used for on the field marching. Drum major Marty Garcia and twirler Sally Shamrell CSD led the band while entertaining the fans during halftime at Puma football games. Practicing for these halftime shows took plenty of marching practice outside. C41 The band did a lot of traveling, going to Tucson for Band Day, to Douglas, Willcox and Tombstone. At the football games the band performed in the stands CSD, as well as on the field. Student Life 77

Musicals kept vocal music busy The vocal music department had a very busy schedule which included a couple of musicals and a number of other affairs. Such groups as concert choir, mixed choir, and girls glee were kept busy throughout the year with performances of the musical-comedy Trial by Jury QD, which was performed in the form of a dinner-theater. The music department's maior project, another musical entitled Oklahoma, was performed in March. These two musicals, along with the annual Vespers concert, kept these groups extremely busy.
