Valedictorian, Martha Hooper 2 5 I Salutatorian, Rhonda Roberts Martha, Rhonda content with Ist, 2nd Chosen as the l98l Valedictorian was Martha Hooper, with Rhonda Roberts earning the title of Salutatorian. These top students of the Senior Class were recognized for their outstanding academic skills. Being a top student has always been a goal for both Martha and Rhonda. They replied, We have worked very hard during these four years. It took a lot of studying and most of the time we had to give up doing other things, but it was worth it. Martha Hooper sees her past four years as a lot of fun and hard work. During my four years of high school, I accomplished a lot of things. But I still would have wanted to get involved in a few more things that I didn't get the chance to. Martha's future plans are to attend NAU to get a bachelor's degree in business and to get a masters degree from Thunderbird Academy in Scottsdale. Then she wants to go into foreign service. Rhonda Roberts was very surprised to be named the class Salutatorian. Her reaction was, It's great! I didn't think I had made it. She describes her high school years as having their 'ups and downs.' There was a period of time when Rhonda had a serious bone marrow transplant earlier in the year. Due to a successful operation, she was able to return to school and catch up on her schoolwork. lt was real hard coming back and trying to do all my work at once, but I knew it had to be done, replied Rhonda. Rhonda's plans are to travel to get some ideas and become 2 writer. CRemaining members of Top I0 pictured on opposites page. A total of II people shared the top ten grade point averagesj
