Thirteen participants from last year's state meet returned to give the Pumas the necessary experience to be a highly competitive team. Tomas Urias in the high jump, Eddie Escaroega in the long jump, Martin McKinney the shot put, Troy Puzzi in the pole vault, and Kevin Dunlap, who participated in the mile run, all returned to give the Pumas a well balanced team. This year's team should be competitive in every event, was the belief of head coach Mr. Ron Olander. The track team also placed much dedication in their practices to maintain their state champion status. lt takes many long hours of practice to become state champs, stated returning pole vaulter Don Thomas.
