Birmingham-Southern ' s hbrary was once small enough to fit into one room of Erskine Ramsay Hall. Today it is one of the finest collec- tions of books of any college of like size. Through the gift of Mr. I. Paul Phillips, the present library was built in 1923 and ten years later the stacks at the rear of the building were added. A Carnegie grant for books, as well as gifts from friends of the college, has made the Bir- mingham-Southern Library more nearly complete — a place for study, a home for literature. M.
