This yearbook will grow in value to you as the years go by. Let it be a strong tie that, from time to time, will bring you back to North. Each year, alumni groups have returned for a Little Theatre Guild play, a concert, a basketball or a football game, Last October, our first Home- coming Day brought hundreds back to North. The members of the classes of '54 will be scat- tered far and wide, but we hope many will be on hand for our second Homecoming Day this Octo- ber. To our Wampum staff who have created this 1954 yearbook with the help of many, I say a warm Thank you. We are proud to say to our friends I'his is our yearbook. When you read this, we will all be hard at work to complete assignments and to clear the final hurdles of the spring term. Our school has had a full and happy year. Our teachers have again excelled in their desire to serve North. Iwel- come this opportunity to express for all of us our gratitude to a topflight faculty. G.S. Tate 4

To any who have known him, however, he has been much more. He has been a counselor in those times of personal crisis which face teen-agers at every turn, a teacher with a sense of humor and perhaps most of all, a friend. And so, without further ado because more would clutter his direct and quiet sincerity we proudly dedicate the 1954 Wampum to E. Webster Haight.
