.x., rw , 4593, 3 ,I .I .Q Guiding us in the selection of courses and helping us with the many problems which arise from day to day are three friendly and capable counselors. MR. RONALD L. JOHNSTON, vocational counselor, has been at North in that capa- city for thirteen years. From his office in room 5A he also supervises tests for high school equivalency diplomas. He was graduated from Union College with a B.S.. in Chemistry degree and from Syracuse University with an M.A. in Education. Be- fore coming to North, Mr. Johnston was a research engineer with General Electric in Schenectady and an instructor in Mount Pleasant High School, Schenectady. MISS IRENE M. MC NULTY, girls' counselor, has in her first year at North won the friendship and respect of all of us who work with and are associated withher. A graduate of Cortland State Teachers Col- lege and New Yo rk University, Miss McNulty has earned a B.S. and M.A. de- gree. She was girls' counselor at East Junior for eight years and a half and pre- vious to that was a social studies instruc- tor at East Junior. She has also been a teacher in elementary school. Her office in room 103 is a busy place as she con- sults with the girls of North and tries to help them to adjust to each new situation. MR. JOHN BRENNAN, boys' counselor, whose office is located in room 103, came to North last September also. His friendly smile and easy manner have helped many boys over a rough spot during the last year. Mr. Brennan was graduated from St. Bonaventure's University with the de- grees of Bachelor of Science and Master of Education. After four years as mathe- matics teacher at West Junior, he was a math teacher at Central for six years. Before coming to North, Mr. Brennan was boys' counselor at East Junior for seven years. North has fared well with its new ad- ministration this year.. Such innovations as the dropping of the afternoon home room period, shortening of the noon hour, change in library procedure during study hall periods, and the use of the record player in the cafeteria during the noon hour, to mention but a few changes, have given new life to what threatened to become mono- tony. We welcome everyone new to our school, and especially greet Mr. Tate as our principal and Miss McNulty and Mr. Bren- nan as our counselors.
