First year is devoted to learning' the basic elements of art, while students possessing unusual talent are offered an advanced curriculum. Anyone with interest in this Held should certainly make 325 a part of his program. Nlrs. Because of amazing progress in the field of transpor- ition and communication, our world is much smaller than was twenty years ago. This has caused our relations 'ith other countries to become much closer and the study f languages to become increasingly essential to modern ving. Here at Central, our language department is one of the iost popular and important in the school. In the excellent Jurses otlerecl, the stuflent has a variety of choices. Miss ,losephine Rosenberg, Miss Catherine Keenan, and liss Rita Taylor teach Latin. This subject is not only valuable for its own merits, but is also helpful for learn- ing other languages. ' At the head of the French and Spanish Departments is Miss Loretta Murphy. There are three years of lfrencl: and two of Spanish offered to Central students. The pupils learn both the language and the history and geography of the country. A good knowledge of languages has proven to be im- portant in many fields of work. We should take advantage of these Fine courses available at Central. N i Row 1: Miss Elizabeth Prior, Mrs. Ann Crosby, Miss Barbara Hennessey, Miss Mary Gillespie. Row 2: Mr. Frank LoVuolo, Mr, John Lalley, Miss Margaret Brown, Miss Louise Wulff. Histor History is the biography of the peoples of the world. The early development of civilization is taken up by Central sophomores when they study the growth of mankind through its many troubled years. Juniors study a subject closer to all of us-the life story of the United States. This includes the growth of our country and its people: the wars and prob- lems our forefathers faced to make America what it is today. Seniors continue to learn American his- tory and also study current events. The history teachers, headed by Miss Mary Gillespie, endeavor to show students how history can increase world unity through greater understanding, and how knowl- edge of this great land of ours can make us better citizens. :STORY Mathematics The Central High niatliematics department lit-:uled by Mrs, Blanche Beers, ollers students 21 wide field from which to choose. This varied curriculum, which includes plane and solid ge- ometry, intermediate and advanced algebra, and trigonomctry, is designed to fulfill college entrance requirements. l'lane geometry is a full-year course, while trigonotnetry, advanced algebra, and solid ge- ometry are taught in one term. Intermediate algebra can be taken in one or two terms, de- pending on the requirements and ability of the student. The usefulness of math should never be underestimated: it is essential for a well- rounded education. Row 1: Miss Muriel Dando, Mrs. lllanche lleers 'Nlrs hdith Calvert Row 2: Mr. VVilliam Hogan, Mr. -lohn tiublc Mr. -lohn Grace, Miss lsatliryn Hylautl lxot 0 z Sclence Our science department, headed by Mr. llon- ald Roehm, offers a valuable program, even to students not planning a scientific career. Courses are available in chemistry and physics, a science major consists of both of these with ninth-grade biology. Mr. Roehni, better known to all as Doc, is assisted by Mr. .lohn Grace and Miss Kathryn Hyland. The most outstand- ing and enjoyable feature of the chemistry and physics courses is the laboratory period, in which fascinating experiments are performed and discussions are held. sm I i I lf' a eteria One of the most popular places in Central is o . in cafeteria. Here students may obtain a delicious meal including' milk, a main dish, a vegetable, and dessert, at a reasonable price. A la carte dishes are also offered. However, many students bring their lunch from home and just buy some milk. Our student body owes many thanks to the cafeteria statt for making lunchtime s l uci .1 pleasant interval between morning and afternoon classes. 2 Mrs. Dorothy Ramage, Mrs. Euleta Hayes, Mr Frances Saunders, Miss Millie Morgan, Nlr Blanche Van liell, Mrs. Neva Andrews. anding: Mr. fliarlcs Vtliitcouih. This is not acci- dental, but due to the conscientious and ellicient work of our crew of custodians. We are grateful to these gentlemen who care for the heating and illumination of our buildings and maintain our school in the peak of condition. They are taught acting, directing, make-up, and scenery management. Each term the club has try-out plays in order to consider students for membership. In the spring term there were two plays because of the large number which tried out. The plays were Lady Rosa, di- rected by Millicent Kalaf and Linda Palilon, and Star Struck, directed by Norma Dickerson and Martha Guinane. Last fall Dramatics Club visited the Cortland State Teacher's College Drama Festival. Dramatics Club also helps the Dra- matics Class by selling tickets to their semi-annual produc- tion. Its mem- ' ' A 0 bers are those who are 5 K I 0 proficient in speaking or who have the desire to become so. The club meets every Friday at 3:06, when the business meeting is held. After the business meeting several members pre- sent a debate or hold a discus4 sion, dealing with a specific sub- ject. Besides weekly meetings, a varsity debate team enters various debates on both the local and state scene. Mr. J. P. Kavanagh, the club's faculty adviser, is present at each of the meetings, helping the de- baters and giving hints on speaking and debating procedure. The club also sponsors many other outside activities such as the semi-annual dinner, the an- nual dance, and the popular study-hall debates, Row 1: Susan Multer, Secretary, joan Hester, Proposition Chairman, Winthrop Risk, President, Mr, J. The girls also take care of the health room during the lunch hour, have charge of the hostess desk, do library work, and are responsible for attendance slips, Boys, too, assist in Student Staff duties by working in the gym at noon. Its ac- complishments included decorating the study hall black- boards with colorful pictures at Thanksgiving and put- ting up Christmas decorations. The club's president for the fall term was Dolores Barvinchakg during the spring, Michelle Ryan presided. May this industrious organization prosper for years to come! Gavel Club Gavel Club, under the leadership of Mr. Joseph Pow- ers, is comprised of the presidents of all the chartered organizations of Central. The purpose of this club is to band together these organizations in order to achieve closer co-operation and stronger ties among them, Gavel Club also attempts to avoid conflicting club programs during the school year. Key Club Key Club, sponsored by Kiwanis International and advised by Mr. Abe Bernstein of our faculty and Mr. Alton Stearns of the local Kiwanis group, is one of Central's outstanding service clubs. One of the elub's projects this year was a survey to discover what stu- dents at l3.C.H.S, plan for the future. To raise funds, the club manages the checkroom at dances and home basketball games. We are sure Key Club will continue its fine work, Hi- Central's Hi-Y club, which meets every Tuesday night at the Y.M.C.A., is one of the sehool's oldest or- ganizations. Directed by Mr. Kavanagh, the boys had charge of the concession stands at all home basketball games. Central's famed Varsity Choir had another suc- cessful year. Their well-trained voices, under the direction of Mr, Thomas Clune, performed for many service clubs, schools, and women's organizations in the area, as well as for delighted Centralites. At Christmas time the halls were traditionally filled with joyous carols sung by the choir members. Se- lections were presented at the commencement pro- gram and at several other assemblies throughout the year. ln April they traveled to Oneonta to present a program. Officers for the fall term included the fol- lowing: Susan Multer, President: George Lutzic, Treasurer: Marjorie Mac Ginnis, Secretary, Leaders of the spring term were john Kunce, President, Mike Manahan, Treasurer: Callie Davidge, Secretary. Few people realize the amount of work involved in an orchestral performance, Central's orchestra is no exception. They really do a fine job and deserve a great deal of praise. The orchestra performed at several school assemblies this year, including the Christmas program and the Honor Soci- ety assembly. In addition to these appear- ances, this organization spends many dili- gent hours in preparation for commence- ment exercises and the annual Night of Music. The officers of the orchestra for the fall term were President, Jerry Hudson, Vice-President-Treasurer, Donna Hudak 5 and Secretary, Connie Brainard. This year, under the direction of Bernard Shifrin and assisted by drum-major Ed Hull, we have had one Q ,J of the finest bands in Central's history. The band attended all of our football ,,, ' games and even accompanied our basketball team to Barton Hall and the sec- xB'i'i tionals. ln March, the band marched through slush and snow to escort Egbert, the Easter Bunny, into town. From there the group traveled to Ithaca, where it competed in the New York State Band Contest. Then came more rehearsing, in preparation for the school assembly and the Night of Music at Central. Assisting this band was an equally fine group of Hag-bearers and baton-twirlers, ,A ,J headed by United States Baton-Twirler Champion, Barbara Emminger. Mr. Robert Bud Deyo, who won coach-of-the-year honors in his freshman year, did a superlative job of molding a front-runner around a very small group of returning lettermen. The 1955 Bulldogs are a team of which Central can well be proud. B.C.H.S. 0 Scranton Central 20 Central opened its season on September 24 with what proved to be a creditable performance against an outstand- ing Pennsylvania team. Outmanned on the average over twenty pounds in the line, the Blue-and-White demon- strated, after a rough first half, a stubborn defense which was to mark most of their later games. B.C.H.S. 6 Johnson City 0 September 30 brought an end to a thirteen-game victory drought for the Bulldogs. Co-operation between three B.C.H.S. forwards brought about the one score of the game. With tackle Bob Ward and guard Tom Dellarocco crossblocking, Rocco Marrongelli, switching from tackle to halfback for one play, went 23 yards to provide the margin of victory. B.C.H.S. 0 Ithaca 0 On Saturday afternoon, October 15, Central and Ithaca slogged to a scoreless deadlock on a rainswept field cov- ered with foot-deep mud. The Centralites received the opening kickoff and drove to the Ithaca 23 where a fumble ended Bulldog threats for the afternoon. A spirited goal- line stand stopped a 71-yard drive by the Little Redmen late in the second period. B.C.H.S. 13 Elmira Southside 7 Under a warm sun for the first time in four games, the Blue-and-White celebrated with a field day against the Green Hornets of E.S.S. Quarterback Marce Tino scored both touchdowns on short keep plays, but by far his most memorable run was a 69-yard scamper to the Elmira 5 which set up the second T.D. B.C.H.S. 0 North 13 North extended its mastery over Central in football to 11 consecutive years before a crowd of some 5,000 peo ple. B.C.H.S. played a see-saw game for three periods and then watched the Indians score twice in the final quarter In their one real bid for paydirt the Blue-and-White marched 73 yards to their opponents' 10-yard line where four plays failed to net the required yardage. B.C.H.S. 6 Vestal 19 A Friday night trip to Vestal coupled with a cold wind proved unprofitable as the Golden Bears scored in each of the first three periods, twice as a result of intercepted passes. In the final quarter the Blue-and-White got a sim ilar break when Jim Vaughn intercepted a Dick Stanton pass and ran it back to the Bears' 30-yard stripe. Tino cracked over from the one for the Centralites' lone 6-pointer. B.C.H.S. 6 Elmira Free Academy 0 An overcast Armistice Day afternoon at North field was the setting for Central's biggest win of the season. On a muddy Held a spirited Bulldog squad lived up to the rep utation of their namesakes, holding the fast Free Academy backs to very short yardage and frequently throwing them for losses. Midway in the third period guard Paul Sypher recovered a fumble on the Blue Devil 31, and 5 plays later Rocco Marrongelli crashed over for our margin of victory This win put Mr. Deyo's squad in a first place tie with but one game to play. 78 B.C.H.S. 0 Union-Endicott 12 Six thousand people were in the stands at North Field for our annual Thanksgiving Day game. In the hrst quarter an intercepted pass set the stage for a successful U-E drive. Midway in the second half the Blue-and-White, with ine running by halfback Charlie Gibson, reached the Or- i.nge's 10-yard line. A second-down interception caught Lhe home team unawares, and U-E end Larry Chrysler 'aced 99 yards to make it 12-0, postponing Centra1's hopes For a championship to another year. Football While varsity was coming close to the conference title, our j.V. Footballers posted a two and four record over the 1955 season. The year was a success, providing valu- able experience for our varsity gridders. Coach Frank Lo Vuolo's squad shared West .lunior's field with Mr. Deyo and his team at daily practices in all types of weather, also using it as their home game field. The schedule had many exciting moments, student attendance was excellent. The Bullpups opened their season against a good Vestal eleven and came out on the short end of a 6-0 score mainly because they couIdn't generate a real offensive threat. A' 13-6 victory over Johnson City lifted Central to .500. Led by Ralph Fabrizio and Marion Olshefski, who scored a lone TD apiece, the team won its first home game. A three-yard ofi'-tackle smash by Fabrizio to tie up the game at 6-6 was the one bright spot in our third game as Elmira Southside piled up a 19-6 decision. End Dick Kumpon had a field day against Chenango Forks, hauling in touchdown passes from Stew Walls and Dick Dranichak for a total of twelve points. Fabrizio scored in the open- ing period to round out a 19-0 romp. A fourth-quarter defensive lapse spelled our third defeat of the season after a Walls to Charlie Wales pass and a six-yard dash by fullback Tom Babish had piled up 13 points. Coming from behind, the Orange rallied to edge the Centralites, 19-13. The junior Bulldogs finished the season at home against North in their best performance of the season in spite of the score. The game was played in ankle-deep mud, on one occasion the ball was placed on the one-yard line after the Bullpups had seemingly crossed the obliterated goal line. A fumble lost the ball on the next play, and the ln- dians went on to win, 9-0. One player especially deserves mention of his fine work over the six-game schedule: Marion Olshefski, outstanding on both offense and par- ticularly defense, was named the squad's Most Valuable Player. Varsity Basketball During the 1955-1956 season, the Binghamton Central High basketball team, with Mr. Arthur Sharpsteen as coach, continued the tradition of Central with a 15-3 record. The 10-2 Southern Tier Conference record was good for second place, and, since all three losses were on the road, the team has preserved the record of never having lost a game on the Central court. Nov. 29: Central 80-Athens 57. Paced by McCane's 24 points, Central led all the way for the win. Abbadessa, Kenney, and Campos had 14, 12, and 10 points respectively. Dec. 2: Central 65-Cortland 58. Behind 39-31 at the half, Central's second half surge, paced by Campos and McCane with 17 and 16 respectively, led to a close victory at Cortland. Demtrak and Kenney contributed 14 and 12 points. Dec. 9: Central 78-Nott Terrace 71. With Kenney and McCane leading the way with 24 points apiece, the home court again proved to be the deciding factor of the intense rivalry between these two teams. Dec. 13: Central 72-U. E. 47. Don Campos with 17 and Dave Davenport with 14 led Central to their fourth victory of the year. Dec. 16: Central 60-North 45. Dec. 21: Central 72-E.S.S. 58. Rolling to a 20-5 lst quarter lead, during which E.S.S. was held scoreless from the field, Central was never headed as Bill Fusco and Dick Kenney paced the winners with 15 points apiece. Balance again decided as Demtrak, Abbadessa, and McCane fol- lowed with 12, 11, and 10 points respectively. Dec. 27: Central 75-Norwich 50. Utilizing the full court press, Central jumped to a commanding 46-22 half- time learl paced by McCane with 21, Campos with 14, Ken- ney with 13, and Demtrak with 10. Dec. 30: Central 85-Scranton Tech. 60. Extremely good scoring balance, Campos-20, Kenney-18, Demtrak-17, Abbadessa-16, lecl Central to an easy win over once-beaten Scranton Tech. Jan. 6: ,l.C. 73-Central 60. Central suffered its first loss of the season at J. C. as a result of a below average 25W shooting percentage. McCane and Abbadessa were high for Central with 13 each and Kenney followed with 10. Jan. 10: Central 70-Vestal 49. Campos, Demtrak, and McCane with 16, 15, and 14 points respectively paced Cen- tral to an easy win as a result of a 26-14 4th quarter. jan. 13: E.lf'.A. 62-Central 60. Still feeling the effect of the loss to ,l.C., the Central five lost a thriller at E.F.A. that wasn't decided until the final buzzer. Campos, Kenney, and Davenport were tops with 14, 12, and 10, jan. 17: Central 88-Homer 70. With a 48-point second half, Central won over a stubborn Homer five in a well- played game. Davenport paced the winners with 25 points, while Fusco, Campos, Kenney and Donovan followed with 16, 14, 12, and 11 points respectively. -lan. 20: Central 86-Ithaca 41. Bill Fusco's 20 points led Central to a runaway win over Ithaca. Tony Abbadessa, playing his final game at Central, was second high with 13 while Campos and Davenport followed with 12 each and Kenney with 10. Feb. 3: Central 65-Vestal 59. Demtrak with 16 and Davenport and Fusco with 11 each averted an upset at the hands of Vestal by outscoring the home club 20-9 in the final quarter. Feb. 10: Central 69-J.C. 53. Central gained revenge for the earlier loss at J.C. and moved within a game of lst place with a well-played 43-point second half that left J.C. out of the game entirely. High scores for B.C.H.S. were Davenport-17, Kenney-14, and Demtrak, Donovan, and McCane all with 10. Feb, 14: Central 6-1-U.E. 45. Central kept its title hopes alive with a win at Central over U.E. paced by Dave Dav- enport's 19 points. Feb. 17: Central 56-North 49. Central edged North to hnish with a 10-2 conference record, second to J.C.'s 11-1 record. Davenport with 19, Donovan with 14, and McCanc with 10 were high. Feb. 18: Nott Terrace 76-Central 52. Nott Terrace handed Central its worst defeat since 1949 to end the 1955-1956 season on a sad note by outscoring the Bulldogs 47-21 after the intermission. Davenport and McCane paced Central with 16 and 13 points apiece. Although Central failed to win the Eastern Division crown of the Southern Tier Conference they did reach the Section IV final playoffs at Barton Hall, only to lose to Homer, 69-61. To reach this playoff berth the team had to defeat U.E., Waverly, Bainbridge, ,l.C., Cortland. J. V. Basketball The 1955-1956 season proved to be a successful one for Mr. Robert Sweeney's Junior Varsity basketball play- ers. It is a pleasure to review the highlights of the 16- game schedule, which fined with a 9-7 record. After running away from an outclassed Athens, Pa. team, 79-28, in their opener, the Bullpups dropped three away games in a row to Cortland, 57-55, Union-Endicott, 64-59, and North, 46-42. The Cortland game was decided in the first quarter when the Purple outscored B.C.H.S., 23-13. Marce Tino threw in 19 against the Indians. On December 21 Elmira Southside ran our bad luck to four games, 54-43 in our gym and then, in a non-league encounter with Norwich, Central broke the streak and started onsa winning one with a 77-47 outburst. Scranton Tech was the Blue-and-White's third victim of tl1e season by a twenty- Row 1: John Hogan, Gene Hartmann. point margin, 41-21. Our next game was the most exciting of the schedule, a two-pointer by Roger Wales pulling out a 56-55 squeaker over johnson City. Following a 68-37 romp over Vestal, the Centralites fell short in a last- quarter rally and lost, 59-54, to Elmira Free Academy. Homer provided little opposition in a 88-52 rout as did Ithaca in falling, 58-26 against a Central team playing per- haps their best ball of the season. Opening the second round in the Eastern Division of the S.T.C. at Vestal, the ,lunior Bulldogs dropped a heartbreaker, 55-53, as the Golden Bears piled up 19 points in the fourth quarter to win by two. Dropping our 14th game of the season to j.C. in another tight one, we went on to wind up the season with two four-point victories over U.E, and North in our own gym, 62-58 and 48-44. The season started with a victory over Auburn, 56-21, followed by the defeat of Scranton Central, 46-31. Next, West Scranton was defeated, 64-13, and Scranton Tech, 63-13. At a ten-team relay carnival at Colgate, Central came out on top. The runner-up, Baldwinsville, scored 24. In the following weeks the Bullfish downed Baldwinsville, 49-27, North, 42-35, and Jamestown, 64-13. On March 4, five schools took part in an invitation meet at our pool. In this meet Cen- tral was second with 47, while North Tonawanda took top honors with 58. At the close oi the season our victorious team journeyed to Peekskill for a sixteen-team meet in which they placed fourth. They were excelled only by Peekskill, who was lirst, Mamaroneck, second, and VVhite Plains, third. A new event, the 200-yard medley relay, was introduced this year, therefore, a record of 2:1527 was set by the team of Richard Hill, Keith Harris, Alan Zalbowitz, and Robert Wagener. At the invitation meet our team also set a new pool and school record of 1:44 :6 in the 200-yard free style. The returning lettermeu were Marcello Tino, sprints, relay, .lim lfinch, hurdles, quarter mile, Don llall, distance rung and Dick Scalzo, weights. Others who returned were Steve Kucera, pole vault, Tom Keating, hurdle, sprints, and Dave Parker, l'aul Nejeschleba, Paul Rech, and Win Risk, all distance runners. An initial meeting was held shortly before Easter, and the first practice took place the day after Easter vacation. Due to the lack of an adequate track, since MacArthur Field was severed by the lugliway, all of Central's meets were away-Vestal, North, the Elmira schools, and Union The team exhibited strong spirit and good sportsmanship, and certainly deserves the whole-hearted praise of all Central students. lindicott. Despite the loss of a number of key players from last year's team, notably pitcher-first baseman Stan Drazen, second baseman Bob 'Greblick, catcher Bob Harkness, and third baseman Don Murray, the 1956 Bulldog 'nine presents a strong lineup. Pitchers Dave Davenport and Bill l-lallahan, shortstop Don Campos, outfielders Paul McCarthy and joe McCormack, and catcher Mike Soperak provide Mr. Lalley with a nucleus from 1955 which should produce a record at least equal to last year's third place finish in the Southern Tier Conference. Once again we play a 12-game schedule, with home and home series' against johnson City, Union Endicott, North, and Vestal and single contests with Elmira Free Academy, Elmira Southside, Ithaca, and Cortland. Our varsity home games take place at Recreation Park, about once a week during the season, the ,l.V.'s home is Ansco Held. Rec also is the setting for daily practice throughout the spring, its use depending, of course, on the weather. We of the l'an stall are confident that Mr. Lalley's varsity squad, showing the spirit typical of all Central teams, will make another Fine showing this year, hoping the same for our Freshman and ,l.V. teams. rf Mi , ... Led by letterinen Steve Kucera, Ted Space, and Roman Utyro, with returning junior varsity men Terry Cole and Ronald Wolk and newcomers john Denier, john Kocik. Dick Lynn, Steve Scott, Edward Zeboris, and Ben Zodikotl, the team certainly had a suc- cessful season. Danny, the number one man, has held his position for two years and has been a member 0-f'Central's team since ninth grade. He and Chris Demtrak, both senior A's, enjoyed an almost undefeated season in 1955. The fifth spot on the team is being competed for by the following players: Charlie VVales, Roger Wales, ,lolm Normile, Bruce Bateman, Dave Tomik, Roman Utyro, ,lohn Landers, and Alan Lyons. One of these will receive the numher five position, and the other qualified players will form the doubles team. These lettermen are: Alan Zalbowitz, Richard Hancharik, Martin Snider, and John McCambridge. A great number of boys, including many sophomores, showed up at the First meeting which was held shortly after Easter vacation. Because time was short, the boys had to do much of the practicing on their own. Eliminations were held to determine positions. Coach Art Sharpsteen retained as many boys as possible so they could gain experience for next year's team. This year the team was allowed to practice free of charge at Ely Park, Binghamton Country Club, and Vestal Hills. Most of the matches were played at Ely Park.,This season a total of twelve matches was scheduled with Union-Endicott, Johnson City, Ithaca, Elmira Heights, Waverly, Homer, and Cortland, most of them on a home and home basis. Block B Club A cross-section of Central's rugged athletes is found in Block B Club, an organization composed of all the school's varsity lcttermen. These boys have given up much of their spare time and efforts to participate in such sports as football, basketball, volleyball, track, swimming, softball, tennis, bowling, golf, and, just recently, wrestling. Led by President Paul McCarthy, other oflicers chosen this year were Don Campos, Vice-President, and Chris Demtrak, Secretary-Treasurer. Central High has good reason to be immensely proud of this group of sports enthusiasts, since we have held either first or second place in many varsity sports for several years. -1 Y? Many enthusiastic athletes participated in several after-school sports. In our fine new gym, such sports as foul shooting, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and table tennis took place, while on our new athletic field the boys played soccer, touch football, and softball. Each year an inter- class swim meet is held, this year the juniors were victorious. G. A. A. One of the most recently formed clubs at Central is the Girls' Athletic Association. This group, directed by Miss Frear, carried out many activities during its hrst year of existence. The girls sold tickets for many school functions, including the girls' Synchronized Swim Show, and sponsored a girls' basketball invitational to which J. Vestal, North, and U. Central's girls have really gotten into the swing of things sportswise. In the fall, girls play hockey and soccer on the new athletic field or badminton and ping pong in our new gym. Winter sports include volley- ball, tumbling, and basketball: in the spring, there are tennis and softball. Swimming activities include junior and senior lifesaving and a synchronized swim team taught by Mrs. Hanlon. Intramurals are ably supervised by Miss Frear and Mrs. Kostun. Without these vivacious girls, Cen- tral's football and basketball games would be dead, indeed. They do much for our school spirit and are important factors in our many victories. This year's squad, directed by Miss Moore and led by Joyce Sinicki, was comprised of Claudette Berger, Bobbie Johnson, Yvonne Meyers, Kathy Rezmerski, Joyce Murphy, and Sharon Folmsbee. 75 98 ? Miz? T-E-A-M, yea team! Thus rang one of the many cheers of our lively J.V. cheerleaders. For the fall term they included Sharon Folmsbee, Kathy Rezmerski, Linda Cafferty, Beverly Zalbowitz, and Marilyn Barnes, cheering for the spring term were Genevieve Teague, Pat Dennison, Marilyn Barnes, Linda Catferty, and Lnana Jones. In their blue and white uniforms they paraded Duke, the bull- dog mascot, around the Held, helping to inspire our team to victory. One of the added highlights to Central High's Band is the Color Guards. These girls fell in step with the band at all football games, and led our musicians in the Central-North parade.
