I Hear America Singing Ten men and one woman teach us the principles of democracy and citizenship. We study world-wide problems, our state of Montana, and the U.S. government. The Autumn of I960 was a challenging one in any social studies class because of the election issues. Strains of music from the band, orchestra, and chorus fill the halls every school day. Needles and Paintbrushes The teachers of vocational agriculture, woodshop and machine shop guide those students desiring to enter a vocation upon their graduation. During the winter, the art classes are confined to the third floor art room. But in the spring, a young artist’s fancy turns to sketching on the front lawn of BHS. Mrs. Pfeifer and Mrs. Nielsen are both adept with needles. Only difference is, Mrs. Nielsen uses hers in a sewing machine. 25
