.As Seniors, we Step Forward and Salute you The door marked Future is open to us now and we must step through it confidently with the knowledge that we have twelve years of expert training for life behind us. The way may look vague and misty at the first glance but as we step forward we will be- gin to make out the shapes of the concrete things which progress offers us. Webster says that progress is the advance to an objective- gradual betterment. Gradual betterment. Can We as seniors take this definition of progress and use it to the fullest extent make it work for us as the graduating classes in the past have endeavored to make progress for themselves? We say that we can only try. Actually We must do more than just try. The future of our too small universe really lies on our shoulders now ln times of crisis our parents and elders look at us and say You are our only hope now The word now which has re-occurred here again and again is significant because we have to do our living in the present tense What Job lies ahead of us? we ask In l95l Just as in l94l the highschool student is faced with the immediate threat of war lf we could only turn time back and hear what the students in our highschool were thinking of their chances for survival in those troubled time There is no doubt that their thoughts were filled with dissolution and yet then as now they could hear that re ecno ing of the educated man Fear comes from the warehouse of ignorance they head him say lt has always been man s custom to find an immediate remedy for whatever surpresses his natural energies In our twelve short years of learning we have been handed the remedy for fear ignor ance doubt and above all pessimism on a silver platter We have not only gained knowledge and wisdom but we have taken the first steps toward being able to cope with this future that IS challenging us We have been well rounded and ably led by one of the greatest leaders of our nation the American teacher As seniors We step forward and salute you jenny Qrand and Jlfioore .Tromote 73J'lS Spirit Leaders in the class of l95l were class officers Dale Tenny Suzanne Grand and Pat Moore These students have b en prominent not only inholding the offices but all are active in promot ing school spirit club life and aiding various community services Chosen by their classmates on responsibility scholarship fortitude and leadership these stu dents took over the task of planning the senior class banquet and aided in choosing the gradu ation announcements The senior class has had fin representation in office this year President Tenny held roles in several school productions traveled to Boys State and was ac tive in Key club and many other school activiti s Vice President Grand was one of the six dele secretary has served as president of AK been active delegate in Girls State and many school activities President Dale Tenny 561 Q-1 ,W Vice President Suzanne Grand Secretary Pat Moore Page Eighteen , , , , ' 1 I I - T - I I 1 S I I I I I I . Glasses Primarily, democracy is the conviction that there are extraordinary possibili- I ties in ordinary people, ' and that if we throw wide the doors of opportunity so that all boys and girls can bring out the best that is in them, we shall get amazing results from unlikely sources. That is why, with all its discouraging blunders, we must everlastingly believe in it. ffliarry Emerson Fosdick. Sf Learning Geased .CPeople would 'Become Barbarians The world stops, short in its tracks! Living things all stop growing-die! There are no more thoughts, dreams, experiences! NOTHING! It is a place too terrible to even contemplate. Progress is the food ot humanity. Without new thoughts the world would fade to nothing as the snail which dies if it does not grow a new ring each year. Civilization must have new people with each passing minute to supply new ideas without which, the world would not thrive. 4 -My J'-V' .' I 'fa- Page Seventeen
