Dear Mr. Adams: Four years ago we were enrolled as freshmen and you became the principal of Howe High Schoolg thus we are the first class to graduate after having spent our whole four years of high school life under your leadership. Looking back now, we can honestly say they have been profitable and enjoyable years of working together under all kinds of circumstances. Someone has said, To have a friend you must be a friend. You certainly have lived up to that recommendation, for through your understanding of us, your refusal to show partiality, your sound judgment, and helpful advice you have proved yourself to be to us a friend indeed, and in return you have won from among us many staunch and loyal friends. We know how hard you have worked to give us the best possible school with high standards both in scholarship and in discipline. We know, too, that the way has not always been easy. More than you realize, and more than we realize now perhaps, your example of hard work and unflinching adherence to high ideals has molded our characters and influenced our thinking. We truly appreciate the association we have had with you, and it is our sincere desire that wherever we go, we shall be a credit, not only to our school, but to you as well.
