ATTer This game, The rice harvesT kepT several sTrong men QTT The Team. Conse- quenTly, wiTh a greaTly weakened squad, Biggs played Durham and was crushed by a 22-O score. Our game wiTh Los Molinos ended wiTh a score OT 24-O in Their Tavor, due To Too many second sTringers in our line-up. This was The TirsT league vicTory Tor Los Molinos in Three years oT cornpeTiTion. On ArmisTice Day, Gridley was meT aT Biggs. Biggs was greaTly sTrengThened by The reTurn of The rice harvesTers. and The addiTion oT SmiTh in The line-up. lT was a hard ToughT Thrilling game, during The TirsT halT, which ended O-0. ln The Third quarTer, Biggs made a sensaTional sTand on The lsT yd. line, aTTer Gridley had progressed To ThaT poinT on a laTeral pass. AbouT The middle of The TourTh quarTer, Biggs superior playing became maniTesT. Hard plunging by Kuhl and good kicking by Grein, began To Torce back The GridleyiTes. The season has proved To be very worThwhile. The TirsT engagemenT was To play wiTh The Oroville Band in Their ArmisTice Day parade. Then in The aTTernoon of The same day The band played Tor The Gridley-Biggs High TooTball .TilT. IT played in December Tor The annual communiTy ChrisTmas program in The Fireme'n's Hall. A concerT was presenTed in The gymnasium in January Durin The w' T 'T l . g in er I payed Tor several baskeTball games. AnoTher public concerT was given in April Biggs Band h d exc ange assembly concerTs wiTh Gridley, Oroville and Durham. A one-da T ' l K - y rip was Talren during which concerTs were played aT Chico High, Chico STaTe, and Durham High. Then The band prepared iTs numbers for The Chico FesTival in which iT played on April 28. The band seriously planned To play aT The STaTe.TournamenT in San Francisco, buT owing To The expense involved and The diTliculTy of geTTing To San Francisco, iT was ThoughT besT To abandon The Trip. Tlhe closing evenT of The year was a series oT Three con'cerTs presenTed-by a massed band composed oT'The Oroville, Gridley, and B' b ' ' lggs ands. All This has given The band a successTul season. ConsequenTly many excepTional limiTed men were placed in The unlimiTed division. A large squad Turned ouT Tor The Track call, buT in all pracTice meeTs, Biggs could noT geT enough men TogeTher aT one Time To place very high. However, several men showed up well in These pracTice meeTs, Several OT The boys did noT geT in To any oT These mceTs which placed Them aT a disadvanTage in The preliminary meeT, as They had had no inTer-school compeTiTion during The year. AbouT a week beTore The daTe oT The preliminary meeT. Biggs was inTormed ThaT The meeT was To be held here. A week oT rapid preparaTion ensued. The Track was surveyed, cleared, packed and laned. On The day oT The meeT, SaTurday, May 5, The Tield was in Tine shape, considering The shorT Time oT preparaTion. The aim of The Biggs sTalwarTs was TulTilled, They Took The unlimiTed meeT by a score of 53lf2 To 47. The score oT HamilTon CiTy, Their nearesT compeTiTor. Biggs was low in limiTed sTandings.
