spirit rises during beat abilene week To start off the sea- son right, Mayor Wade Choate declared an official Beat Abi- lene Week. After several days of paint- ing signs and decorat- ing halls, the spirit cli- maxed at the KBST pep rally. The Gold- diggers, cheerleaders, band, and the football team made the pep rally complete. A car- avan of decorated cars paraded through the city before the game. Beat Abilene Week was a big success when the Steers over- came the Abilene Eagles. student life

Oklahoma! delights theatre-goers One of the highlights of the 1972-73 school year was the Choral Department ' s prod- uction of Rogers and Hammerstein s Oklahoma! Because of the overwhelming attendance the play proved to be only the first in a long line of musicals to come. The play was produced under the direction of Mr. Jack Bowers. A — Will Parker, played by Johnny Tonn, explains to Aunt Ellen and the boys about his adventures in Kansas City. B — Pam Little as Gertie con- fronts Lori Fort, Laurie, about her gooseberry tarts.
