mad dog award added to roster Meeting in the cafeteria on November 15 for the final football banquet of the year, BShHS coaches announced the outstanding football players of the season. Scholastic Award went to Gary hHughes, Jimmy Farris received the Coaches ' Award, and Webb NCO Award went to Dave Thomas. Out- standing Lineman and Back were Roy Anderson and Gary htinds. Mad Dog was Robert Dennis. A — Cornet player Robert Campbell proudly accepts the John Philips Sousa Award from Mr. Bradley. B — Mr. Turner knows that Corn Flakes will nnake Janice Majors grow taller. C — Bonnie Ander- son is the most spirited marcher. D — Big Spring ' s best marchers are: FRONT ROW: Robert Wilbanks, Kent Fish. David Lewis, Bobby Bryant. SECOND ROW: John Tidwell, Robert Campbell, Steve Hughes, Keith Gum, and John Rice. E — Jimmy Farris proudly carries the Coaches ' Award. F — Lineman Roy Anderson receives his trophy from Coach Clovis Hale. G— Back Gary Hinds is awarded a trophy by Coach Bill Bryant. best marchers named at banquet Steer band members wrapped up the marching season with their annual banquet on November 25 at the Big Spring Country Club. Mr. Bradley and Mr. Turner presented Barney Awards to members who showed outstanding musical and marching ability. 28

On November 18, the vocational departments of BSHS held their area banquet in the high school cafeteria. Each department was repre- sented by its club president and club sponsor. The banquet was held in order to display the vocational program at BSHS, and club members conducted tours to the different departments. Mr. Joe B. Neely, Director of Program Develop- ment of the Vocational Division of the Texas Education Agency in Austin, spoke on Occupa- tional and Technical Education In Texas. 30
