if l NAVIGATION DEPARTMENT The Navigation Department encompasses three distinct fields, Navigation, Administration and Medical, all massed in one division, NX. The Quartermasters perform duties of navigation, weather observation, and recording of all events underway in the ship's log. The routine administration of the ship is carried out by the Personnelmen and Yeomen who maintain personnel records, ships records and ships correspondence, in short, the entire volume of the ship's paperwork passes through their offices. Finally, the Medical needs of the ship are satisfied by our Hospital Corpsmen. Corpsmen handle medical duties ranging from vaccination and sick call to minor surgery and on occa- sion, major surgery. LT N. V. MCKENNA Navigator!Administrative Assistant Lieutenant MCKENNA, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., enlisted in the Navy in 1960 and was selected for the Naval Academy Preparatory School. He afterwards entered Villanova University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts and a commission from the NROTC program. Mr. McKENNA served tours aboard the USS ROCKBRIDGE lLPAT1032l before departing the Navy for a one year tour in the Merchant Marlneiwith the Military Sealift Command, Atlantic. Mr. MCKENNA returned to active duty aboard BIDDLE.
