For the girls who wish Io study the art of home-making. the school offers a variety of courses including Cooking, sewing. and home and family liv- ing. instructed by Miss Ruth Cluff and Miss Millieent Boswell, the subjects may be taken as the Complete home economics Course or they may be taken individually as electives. This year the Modern Miss Club, sponsored by Miss Cluff for the second year, was available to girls wishing to further their knowledge in home eco- nomics. Foreign Lan uoige The Foreign Language Department. under the direction of Miss Eleanor Warren. provides an opportunity for students to become acquainted with the languages, cultures. and customs of our neighbor countries. Languages offered at Beverly High School are German. French, Latin. and Spanish. Recently a new language laboratory was added to the Foreign Language Department. en- abling those stuclying German, French. or Spanish to develop their speaking as well as their writing abilities. Besides being used as a part of classroom work. the laboratory was made available for use after school and during study pe- riods for those students particularly in- terffstefl in achieving greater fluency in language. 20 Listen, my children, and you shall hear . . .

Business Education Our Business Department is designed to create efficient workers for the business world. It teaches the fundamental skills of typing, bookkeeping, and shorthand, along with valuable courses in secretarial practice. office practice, consumer educa- tion. and advertising. This year the Business Department add- ed another teacher. Mr. George Acco- mando, to join Mr. Edward Deep and Mr. Roy Norden. Miss Eleanor Lambertson, who is the head of the Business Depart- ment, conducts the Business Education Service Club. Three teachers are connected with the Beverlega. Miss Constance Turlo guides the Typing Staff, Miss Margaret Miner is the head of the Advertising Staff, and Nlrs. Evelyn Bicciardi is in charge of the subscription and sales. Miss Brancato, Senior Advisor. is the business manager of the Aegisg and Mrs. Dixon is the man- ager ofthe B.lsl.S. News.
