For it is Hobart - a frisky, friendly and energetic little creature whom we've chosen to convey the ideals of our Beverly High School: no longer for us only an edifice where learning may be pursued, but now a symbol of the friendship we've found here, the carefree years we've spent here, and the beginning of an awareness and understanding of life we've gained here. We feel that, through Hobart, we shall always be able to look back and recapture some of the atmosphere of knowledge and learning we knew at BHS, and a few of the unforgettably happy, sad, magical, painful, and always wonderful moments of awakening that shall ever be part of us and our school . . . 4 Q51 ,Q .pf ' 2' .- f, ' F,:j:,2..,II r 1 ', 'I tiff . f, V Go Q 5 I I2f' 44 ' I , Q,'-4 4 9 ,I V ,f ff- . 4 I M.- ,jfiffg ' ' M ., L 46' Q Y Agn ,- 4 4 :A I ' , ' 1-1 ', 4 i ,. -f If ,. .-ff., , I ,A A 5-ami-5 If . , 1.32 'S' - '44 t ,,,f - ,,,g,g4 I ' 439 I fb 'I I I f . cg, 2 ' 1 -f f, V I.,-. . s ' r ' 5' WI V , - ,ff 1-14, . ,,ff ,j?f f'::Tj,g5 , A I 'P' il! 455: A I '30 V A 1 I GZ? s 1 4 V I sd'-' . OL: 5, We Chunk 11011, Our principal, William J. Foley For your patient guidance through- out our high school years and your unselfish interest in us and our prob- lems, we wish to express our deepest gratitude. To the Editor of the 1960 Beverlega: The 1960 issue of Beverlega will be another in a long series of Beverly High School Yearbooks. It is of great interest to all of the students of our school as well as to their parents, but is of special significance to the members of the Class of 1960. To them I will address the message you requested. Three years ago when I first met with you dur- ing the Sophomore Orientation Assembly I, as well as members of the Guidance Staff, told you that not only were the many great privileges of this school to be yours, but also that great responsibil- ities of intensified study and achievement and exem- plary citizenship would fall upon you. The fact that you will graduate on June 16 assures me that you have accepted these privileges and fulfilled the re-- sponsibility of doing the required work in your var- ious courses. Decisions in the future will no doubt be many, but you will discover that the lessons you have learned these past three years have equipped you to make decisions with confidence. The faculty and I congratulate you on your grad- uation. We will miss you but we invite you to come back as often as you can. Call on us for help when- ever you think we can be of assistance. Good luck and best wishes to everyone in the Class of 1960. jr C? 1797 .-4? Our advisors, Ralph Lizio, Constance Turlo, William Jenkins. We go forth to a higher call, Holding destiny in our hands, We, the light of a weary world, We, the hope of all troubled lands Enter, enter, enter to learn, Through work and play finding the way to Go forth, go forth to serve, For the challenge is ours today! The culmination of three years of work and play. On June l6, three hundred and eighty-four Seniors, having entered three years ago to learn, now went forth into the world to serve. The students and invited guests were entertained by a selection Espana by the orchestra, a flute solo Scherzino by John Hadley, and the song Oh, Brother Man by the Senior Chorus. The class was inspired by a talk The Stepping Stones of Life, given by Dr. Asa S. Knowles, the President of Northeastern University. The diplomas were presented by Ernest E. Chase, Chairman of the School Committee. After the Class Song, the graduates marched out of the hall, ending a beautiful gradua- tion. .--iaa ML T i '- r '- T J' . vs Class marshals: William Eastwood, Louann Page, Diane Johnson, and The fateful moment is nearing.
