Bridging the rivers of Sophomore worries with patience and understanding, braving the deserts of junior problems with reserve and initiative, scaling the mountains of myriad Senior troubles with sympathy and genuine sincerity, Miss Griffin has won the respect and admi- ration of her student followers. Now the journey is over, the end of tlze school trail is in sight. These travel- ing Forty-Niners will go their way, exchanging the close associations of school life for new friends and interests. But as these members separate, they will have one common share-memories of B. H. S. and you, Miss Griffin. In future years your pleasant manner and warm smile will continue to guide the Class of 1949. In their eyes you will always be a leader, a counsellor, and a friend. lwewrwnonorwewnoovofwoworwnoswswcwnorwnoewrwcwrwswoour DQdiCGt1Onwmonag me cllflz. Smifffh cfmsiiags fo fda 55116011 To the Class of 1949: May I extend to you my heartiest congratulations on the eve of your grad- uation from Beverly High School. You have achieved a goal which many young men and women, even in Amer- t ica, never reach. For you to succeed. there has been hard work and sacrifice on your part: there has been love and encouragement from your parents, there has been friendly assistance and ad- , vice from your teachers. You have reason to be thankful for the success your efforts have brought and for the help you have received from others Fm al .glllifg along the way. Our United States needs intelligent, educated citizens to be a strong, democratic nation. I hope that as the years go by each of you as individual citizens will increasingly be influential in helping to build a better community, a better state, a better nation. I hope that you too will see the meaning of democracy so well expressed by Howard Hartzell, a high school student in Chautau- qua, New York, when he wrote: I speak for democracy. It is worth defending, maintaining. and recreating. , Democracy is the right of every man to know himself, to function to his capacity, to hold fast those things he values, to be governed by his representatives, and to dream the dreams which will become for a dynamic people the reality of tomorrow. My good wishes go with you as you graduate to new and greater challenges in your lives. Sincerely, wczewtzf. There we stood, 300 strong, before the massive doors. Were we nervous? You bet your life we were! None of us knew what horrible fate might befall us, but we gritted our respective teeth and went forward, as into battle Cas Miss Ryan would sayb. Once inside, we found that the Sophomore's lot was not an easy one, but Beverly High School really held nothing to dread. After the preliminary struggles with lockers and new regulations, we Sophomores soon became accustomed to the place. As our first official act, we elected our officers: President, Kenneth fSandyl Kessaris: Vice-President, Frank Robinson: Secretary, Marilyn MacLeod: and Treasurer, Ned Sweet. This certainly was our year to shine! On Drama Night our play, The Flattering Word , won the award, much to the sorrow of the other two classes. The cast included Theresa Innocenti, Ioan Tucker, Nancy Scott, Bob Wilks, and Don Berry who was chosen as best acftor. Many of our classmates worked off their excess energy playing football and basketball. All things considered, we passed a thoroughly happy year at B. H. S. Iunior Year Another September found us eager to resume the school activities, which by now, had become familiar to us. Why, some of our more seasoned detention students had even corne to call Miss Wallace by her first name!! Our class officers were: Sandy Kessaris, President: Bob Nolan, Vice-Presi- dent: Secretary, Betty Ioslin: and Treasurer, Mike Toomey. The play we presented on Drama Night was Two Crooks and a Lady. This little opus, complete with guns, blood, and policemen, had in its cast the following: Carole Schoellhorn, Betty Ioslin, Peter Whitaker, Robert Carr, and Don Berry fwho got shot-remember?l Theresa D'Amato won the acting award for her outstanding characterization. wQQQwooQ0QcSENIQR CLASS HISTQRYQQUQQQUDQ 5 CQ 'Qu- First row, left to right: Ned Sweet, Ioan Paradise, Bertha Gadbois, Donald Berry, Kenneth Kessaris, Michael Toomey, Mary Coombs, Louis DiFazio. Second row, left to right: Miss Evelyn Griffin, Class Adviser: David Laramie, Lawrence Giulani. Douglas Whyte, Robert Carr, Louis Rossi, Iohn O'Rourke. This year was even more active than the preceding one. Betty Ioslin, Kenneth Kessaris, Donald Berry, Michael Toomey, and Ned Sweet were elected by us to serve as our representatives on the Student Council. Sports such as football and basketball claimed the time and attention of many of our boys. The girls played basketball, were on the baton squad, and served as cheerleaders. Senior Year Now, at last, we were Seniors. Class President Sandy Kessaris was re- elected for a third term. The other officers for the final year were: Vice-Presi- dent, Donald Berryg Secretary, Bertha Gadboisg and Treasurer, Michael Toomey. Ned Sweet presided over assemblies very effectively as President of the Student Council. Two Senior members were added to the Council, Harry Tozier and Bertha Gadbois. The Aegis passed a very successful year under the able direction of Ianet Young, Editor-in-Chief. Robert Woods was Editor of Senior Memoirs. Our dance, The Basketball Bounce , was the social Cand financiall success of the year. There was a large attendance and all had an enjoyable evening. During the year we participated in many other activities designed to re- plenish our dwindling treasury. Banners and lapel ornaments in the school colors were sold in time for use at the Thanksgiving game. Football programs and pencils imprinted with the basketball schedule were also sold. The class sold Souvenir Fall Sports Folders containing candid shots taken at the football games. tContinued on Page 62h aaaaoianacfaarmsdoaaaocrama3:a:mfQ'oioioo'3ioio.oioioic oooooooooaao IEAN M. We are now looking forward to our Senior year and graduation. l'lllll:ll HISTORYQ QUQUGQUU xx: xx zz x x z The three hundred thirty-two members of the Sophomore class arrived at Beverly High School on the 8th of September in '48 anticipating a new field of education and activities. With the expert assistance of the upper classmen, our locker mystery was soon solved for they were unlocked and often carefully set for us. Working out the longest route from home room to class room and from class to class did not take us long. We were very fortunate to enter Beverly High School the year she had an undefeated, untied football team, and the resulting surge of school spirit made us an integral part of the school in record time. In a more serious vein, it ap- peared that we would be the first class to benefit to the fullest extent from the intensified guidance program set up this year. The Charity Ball , the Sophomore play under the direction of Miss Ryan, proved to be an excellent production enjoyed by all who attended the annual Drama Night. The election of class officers was preceded by a unique campaign. The final results were: President, Richard Carr: Vice-President, Robert Hayes: Sec- retary, Robert MacLeod: Treasurer, Fred Bucci. A record number of Sophomores participated in the extra-curricular activ- ities such as football, basketball, track, hockey, baseball, band, and clubs. We have greatly enjoyed our Sophomore year and are looking forward to the remainder of our years at B. H. Its purpose is to give an opportunity for talented students to develop their creative ability, both literary and artistic, and to furnish entertainment to fellow students with worthwhile reading matter. The magazine is issued four times a year: fall, winter, spring, and sumrner. The staff of the Aegis is composed of Seniors and Iuniors who are selected by their English teachers because of their originality and accuracy. Many groups aid in the publication of this magazine. Usually two of the issues are printed in the Trade School under the direction of Mr. Norman Palmer. The advertising, subscriptions, and bookkeeping are supervised by the Business Managers sponsored by Miss Carraher. Also the board has had the valuable advice of Mr. LeBlanc of the art department. Each year under the leadership of Mrs. Corbett, Literary Adviser, an Aegis assembly is held to advertise the magazine and to encourage subscriptions. Other schools in New England, New York, Canada, and England exchange copies with the Aegis. enabling the board to profit by suggestions and examples. The gift of the class of 1915 assures an annual award to the writer of the best story, poem, or essay published during the year. The award is presented at the Senior Assembly in Iune. The judges for this contest are always pro- fessional men and women. This year the Aegis staff has undertaken a new project: that is, partici- pation in the Boston Globe's Publication Competition. Both literary and artistic contributions will be submitted for competition and criticism. The Safety Patrol under the supervision of Mr. Hoot, is one of Beverly High School's most needed organizations? The group is directed by appointed officers with helpful advice from its supervisor. The duties of the group are mainly directing traffic in the corridors and ushering at affairs such as grad- uation, Drama Night, Thanksgiving Day Game, and other functions that might arise and demand their assistance. The members are chosen for their dependa- bility and alertness: the standards are high. No member is to have any scholastic grades below neither is he to have any unsatisfactory citizen- ship marks. The organization this year is composed of thirty-seven members including its captain and three lieutenants. The group has had a very successful year. The Senior members who are leaving are pleased that they were chosen to serve and sincerely hope that the fine tradition of the Safety Patrol is upheld in the years to come. ooooooooooo0SAFETY P 33Df0QD33IO33f33iDDDfODDQODUDD333Q3Z83tD First row, left to right: Robert Drinkwater, Ioseph Sousa, Clark Richards, Thomas Vaccaro, kneel- ing: Curtis Pizzo. The Stagecraft group is in charge of the operation and upkeep of all stage equipment. The club consists of five Seniors, four Iuniors, and three Sopho- mores. , The first task undertaken by two older members was the teaching of the inexperienced Sophomores. The complete workings of the complicated switch board, necessary to produce lighting effects on various stage settings was ex- plained. After covering in detail the information required to work the over- head curtains, drops, etc., from the loft, the mantling and dismantling of scenery was taken up. On completion of the education of the new members, the first test of the newly organized Stagecraft Club came on Drama Night. The club proved very efficient and turned in a good piece of work which added to the success of the affair. Peter Barter, one of the more talented members of the club, directed the painting of a set which greatly improved the appearance of the scenery. Barter. who is only a Sophomore, proved to be a great asset to the club because of his three year's experience in summer theaters. He should be a key man in his coming two years. The club not only teaches what goes on behind the scenes but teaches cooperation, teamwork, and efficiency to its members. In September, twenty students, desirous of finding the short cut in math- ematics joined the Slide Rule Club, a division of the Mathematics Club. They worked valiantly to overcome the difficulties presented by the scales on the rule and to meet the requirements of Miss Hett, the instructor. Slide rules were provided for those who did not own one for problems in- volving division, multiplication, square, cube, fourth, and sixth roots which were solved and corrected during the club meetings. Work continued to include trigonometry on the logarithm, sine, and tangent scales. Skill in using the slide rule, when mastered by practice both inside and outside of school hours, will be a great asset to members who enter college for an engineering course or in a business career. As Berthelot has said- Mathematics is the indispensable instrument of all physical research. .2 3 OOC :OO S DE E C B O-3 OOOOO0 OOOO0,000.00019310DDDDQODDDDUQDDDDUUDDDQDUQQQUQ35 First row, left to right: Ioanna Courtney. Then, always remembering to speak in the Spanish tongue, we discuss this material. This new club, replacing the Pan-American Relations Club, is a consider- able aid, not only to the student who is planning further study in college or who plans to use the Spanish language in later career, but also to those who have difficulty with class work or who wish merely to have a closer understanding of the common adaptations of the language. 0 CiC50?ZiD32f00CE45Ci0000000000000'00'000031'k0000000000000000000 S PA N I S H U B 000000000 0 00 l t U A 4 , ,, XQVM7 Qt' First row, left to right: Barbara Ball, Ruth Canty. It also had cr major part at two gigantic pep rallies. One of the highlights of the year was the Santa Claus Parade which the band led through the streets of Beverly to initiate officially the Christmas season. At the testimonial given in the honor of Ex-Mayor McLean, the band favored the audience with a few well-chosen selections. ln prospect for the last half of the year are two or three major concerts. One of these will be to acquaint the grammar school children of Beverly with the workings of the band and to interest them in playing musical instruments. One of the band's more successful seasons will come to a close with its final exhibition in the Memorial Day Parade. 5550555550000 B A N D UGOOGOOOOOCPOOOOOOOCIOOGOOOOCIOGOOOQCIQ-ZlfOtC!QQOO,QOG0.0QGQUQQTQBweDQU 'Ftrs-'+t-9 wir' 'Y' ret'-'10-..'K L arf!! fs swr l . f q . The Current Events Club has continued in its purpose of acting as an organ to enlighten interested students in pertinent topics of the day. Not only is the Club especially large this year but its open meetings also have been well attended. The highlights of these open meetings have been talks by well qualified men. Since the question Should Beverly Adopt Plan E? caused so much discussion we had two speakers on the subject-Mr. Richard Roundy, Ir., for the affirmative and former Mayor McLean for the negative. Then, too, eleven graduates of B. H. S. gave enlightening and amusing comments about college life and about their own particular colleges. The football team's trip to Florida won everyone's attention: therefore Coach Carrol obliged by giving the highspots of the trip. As the year progresses, we hope to have more ex- cellent meetings with such speakers as State Senator Christopher Phillips on The Business of Going Into Politics , Professor McPherson of Boston College on Current Economic Trends , and Rabbi Ingalls on Palestine. nwmozwnoooawmszwnnnbn CURRENT EVENTS CLUB Qumnoooooooc ............... State law decrees that fire drills shall be held in schools ten times during the school year. To prepare for these drills, organization meetings ofthe squad are held early in the fall to assign new members to stations and to review the best methods of procedure. Two boys are assigned to each extinguisher for greater ease in carrying, with a total of twenty-four boys on the entire squad. Besides these twenty- tour there is one boy stationed at each exit to time those leaving the building. There is also a boy assigned to the scene of the supposed fire to check off the extinguishers as they arrive. This year's squad ranks as one of the best that B. H. S. has had in some years. Should it ever be necessary again to handle a real tire, these boys would give a good account of themselves. oooooooooooc FIRE EXTINGUISHER SQUAD ocrofosczacrcwfarnscrcroiczoa ' I wi-ff-16 . The Parliamentary Law Club aims to equip its members with the knowledge required to conduct meetings efficiently in groups or assemblies. Some time is spent in a study of the fundamental principles: the presentation and dispo- sition of motions, amendments, debate, voting, and the writing of by-laws. The greater portion of time is devoted to the practice of these procedures, and each member of the group is afforded the opportunity to act as a presiding officer in order to make clear the task that faces a person in such a capacity. Visits are made to other clubs to study procedures from a critic's viewpoint. wwowwwo PARLIAMENTARY LAW CLUB - IX! Now in its second year at Beverly High School, Le Cercle Francais is indeed growing in its membership and list of activities. This year, the Cercle is fortunate in having as a member a French boy. who, having recently come from Paris, is in a position to tell us about con- ditions in France today. I-Ie also gave several members addresses of his friends and an interesting correspondence has been started. Weekly rneetings are conducted in French and the programs consist of games, songs, and special reports. Moreover, several members have been to Boston with Miss Warren to see excellent French movies and will probably see more this year. In the future, the Cercle plans to send food and clothing packages to French orphans. In the spring, the club will have an assembly conducted entirely in French. 00000 0 000 0C F R E N C H C B 3300333250DTODQDDDDDDDDDQDDDDDJD M , I' vf...h.3f-- -fm'f'3 ,.. 1 - f,-in-.Q ,-ff,,,:11.....- -, -- -- ur f---------v-1 . ei. q 4 : ' Q W. Several top flight runners left and the only seasoned returnee was Capt. Don Davidson. Despite the lack of veterans the Orange and Black distance runners made the going tough for the opposition. lack Bannon was Beverly's most dependable man. This was his first year out and under the excellent guidance of Coach Rudkin, he developed into one of the best cross country men in the state. The rest of the squad was composed largely of undergraduates. Ken Kulberg, lim Pettipas, Pio Angelini, Frank and Ioe Williams all return next fall, while Capt. Don Davidson, Danny O'Brien, and lack Bannon depart in Iune. With all these veterans returning, the outlook for next year is promising. Coach Rudkin will have more material with which to work and, with his help, the hill and dale boys should fare well. Scores Beverly-29 Melrose -27 Beverly--32 , .. Arlington -23 Beverly-18 .. However, lack of a suitable place to hold team matches made it ex- tremely difficult, if not impossible, to play other schools at Beverly. Fortunately that difficulty was overcome late in the winter of 1948. The U. S. M. C. A. A. very generously made its McKay Street courts available to the B. H. S. for practice and team play at no cost to the school. Shortly afterwards, the Athletic Board made tennis a minor sport at B. H. S. A schedule was then arranged consisting of nine matches with other schools. Of these. Beverly won seven, lost one, and tied one. Richard Kellom was elected captain for 1948. In singles play. Bowden. Kennard, and Maclnnis were outstanding, each winning eight contests and not losing more than one during the entire season. In doubles play, however, the showing was not so good. The Kellom-Maclnnis combination was the most consistent winner. Other combinations showed good form at times, and much is expected of them in 1949. The season of 1949, even with stronger competition and the loss of two good veterans, shapes up well. Captain Alan Maclnnis, Ben Bowden, Quincy Kennard, Earl Iohnson and Dick Price. all veteran lettermen, should be improved players. Other promising candidates are Larry Knowlton, Ned Sweet, Don Farnum, Chet Nyman, Wayne Raymond, and Tommy Donovan. The class of '49 was blessed with Beverly High's greatest team. It was the first undefeated and untied team in the school's history. Under the capable tutelage of Coach Charlie Walsh and his assistants, Charlie Pelonzi and Iohn Borchynski, Beverly rolled over all its opponents during the regular season. Twice the Orange and Black scored forty points in one game. They humbled previously undefeated Gloucester, who claimed themselves heir to the class B crown, by the score of 36-7, in a game that saw tempers flare and near riots. On Thanksgiving morning the Golden Tornado let loose on its arch-rival from across the bridge. Bill Ransom electrified the crowd when he took the opening kick-off and ran for a touchdown. Beverly didn't ease up until the scoreboard read thirty-eight points for the good side and a big 0 for the Witches. Austie Woods missed this game because of a serious knee injury, but Bob Carr and George Brewer made life miserable for the Salem backs. In the post-season fracas Beverly tasted defeat for the first time. The Shoe City eleven was much heavier but could only squeeze by with a hard-earned 14-6 victory. The front wall of Beverly was hard to penetrate. During the season only one touchdown was scored against it. The line had plenty of strength. Co- Captain Mike Toomey, Norm Pfaff, Dick Theriault, Lore Frost, Fred Bucci. Bill Wickers, Ray LeClerc, Paul Fraser, Frank Chamberlain, Dick Evitts, Ierry Piz- zello, George Brewer, Bob Carr, Austie Woods, Charlie Hiltunen, Tony Maggia- como, all saw much action. Their play was nothing short of sensational. The backfield had plenty of speed and deception. Co-Captain Mickey Abate, Sandy Kessaris, Co-Captain Don Berry, Bill Ransom and George Accom- ando, and Bob Hayes carried the offensive burden, while Dick Filippetta and Paul Kelliher were standouts on the defense. Five Walshmen were selected for the North Shore All-Star squad. They were Paul Fraser, Ray LeClerc, Mickey Abate, Bill Ransom, and Sandy Kessaris. Sandy led the Essex County in scoring and failed to tally only in the Gloucester rout. Something new was added to North Shore football with the formation of the Iunior Varsity League. This gave the younger players a chance to gain experience. The competition in the league was keen and Beverly was one of the top teams. The line had Dick Hazell and Wilkinson as ends, Fred Bucci and Wayne Raymond at the tackles, Ioe Maglio, Vic Menesale and Nate Winer guards, and Ioe Ambrefe at the pivot spot. The backfield includes Bob Hayes, Ronald Parsons, Tom Stasiak, Dick Price, Dick Beauregard, Dick Carr, and Tom Rapasardi. Beverly 7 ,, , . Cheerleaders: Irene Manks, Helen Ellis, Betty Ioslin, Edna Dechene, Norma Homan,- Iean Godbout, Chickie Gadbois, Grace Him, Mary Lee, and Ianice Morency, have done a fine job displaying effective cheering techniques. They are to be commended on their stimulating cheers. Throughout the entire football season, they were undoubtedly a great inspiration to both the spectators and our successful football team. With Ianice Morency as their leader, they have contributed much in making the past year a most memorable one. First row, left to right: Dorothy Burton, Marilyn Ward. Nancy Ienness. Second row, left to right: Charlotte Story. Kathleen Hilton, Iune DiGenova, Derna Pieroni, Leona Mallardi, Mary Sabatini, Mary Maloof, Iune MacLeod, Ioanne Hicks. One of the most spectacular parts of each of the '48-'49 football games was the appearance of the Baton Squad. Their twirling attracted much at- tention and admiration at some school assemblies as well as on the gridiron. A great deal of praise is due them for their efforts which resulted in perfected routines, accurately timed and presented in a capable manner. The members of this year's Baton Squad were: Iudith Lewis, Nancy Guething, Iune DiGenova, Derna Pieroni, Iune MacLeod, Mary Sabatini, Mary Maloof, and Leona Mal- lardi. Acting as a guard of honor, the girls making up the Flag Squad con- scientiously attended each football game and by their efforts added considerably to the color and dignity of the pre-game and half-time performance. Both students and faculty have been proud to have this particular group represent their country, city, and school. Those who have played such an essential part throughout the fall season were: Nancy Ienness, Ioanne Hicks, Dorothy Burton, Charlotte Story, and Marilyn Ward. The members of the team had not lost hope, however, for they had played what were considered the most difficult teams to beat. At the start, Austin Woods was lost to the team even before the season had begun. He was injured in football and was unable to take up his chores as center. Sandy Kessaris and Norm Pfaff were slow rounding into shape after a rugged football season. Three of the games were lost by the margin of a foul shot, and in almost every game the Orange and Black quintet led at the half only to lose it after a dis- astrous third period. Things looked good as the Beverly basketeers trounced a strong Marble- head quintet. In a game played at the Boston Arena, Beverly lost its first game to a high-scoring St. Raphael's team from Rhode Island. With the open- ing of the Essex County League, the Orange and Black bowed to Haverhill 25-24. This marked the beginning of the bad luck. Coach Bob Brown's boys could manage to beat only Peabody in the first nine games. One bright feature was the performance of the second team which at this time sports a nine and nothing slate and is tied with the Salem reserves for the leadership. The first team was composed of Harry Tozier, Andy Black, Norm Pfaff, Norm Cassola, Dick Campbell, Sandy Kessaris, Dick Price, Mort Galper, Don Campbell, Ben Bowden, and lack Hansbury. The second team had lim Pettipas, Richie Gobeille, Dick Carr, Dick Veilleux, Bob MacLeod, Red Hogan, Ioe Mulligan, Iordan Baker and Richie Picone. Doc Rudkin's track adherents dropped their first meet to Lynn Classical 37-31. In the Metropolitan League Meet, Beverly defeated Concord 52-25. Bill Ranson broke the record for the fifty yard dash with the time of 5:8 seconds. Next the Beverly trackmen entered the State Meet at the Boston Garden and placed third in Class C. Scooter Ranson again set a new mark for the fifty yard dash in the amazing time of 5:7 seconds. The boys who participated in the indoor sessions were Captain Don Rogers, Bill Ransom, Bob Hayes, Ken Bishop, Bob Young, Pio Angelini, Don Davidson, lack Nunziato, Dick Hazell, Ken Kulberg, Bob Fielding, lack Bannon, Frank Chamberlain, Lore Frost, Fred Bucci, Albert Murray, and Ed Shipp. When spring track begins operations, these boys will be joined by George Accornando, Dick Filippetta, Don Berry, Steve Sanchez, Henry Deschenes, Frank Williams, Dean Zeilon, Bill Woods, Iohn McKenna Dan O'Brien, Iohn Williams, David Gardner, Robert Couillard, Bill Beaulieu, Sam Davekos, and Mike Toomey. Beverly High's baseball nine should be one of the strongest in Essex County. Captain Sandy Kessaris leads the parade of veterans and his hitting will win many games. Along with Sandy in the infield, will be Mickey Abate at second, Charlie Kessaris. a newcomer, at short-stop, and Austie Woods at third, provided his football injury has healed. Bill Flash Ransom and Iack Hansbury are outfield candidates. The catching department is well fortified with Richie Gobeille, the team's leading hitter last year, and Paul Kelleher. The Orange and Black sextet defeated Gloucester, Swampscott, and Peabody. The latter game, won in an overtime, when Beverly skaters scored twice to break a l-1 tie. The playing facilities improved a great deal with the construction of an outdoor rink in Lynn. It is expected that next year the place will be enclosed and a good seating capacity provided. The Beverly pucksters had an abundance of speed and depth. The club worked as a unit and as a result was able to overcome brawn with brains. Most of the boys were on the petite side as compared with the huskies on the opposition. Captain Scoop Nicoll. Dick Price, Ioe Ambrefe, Bob Whalen, Paul Kelly Bill Palm. Don Mitchell, Bob Gibbs, Alfie LeBrun, Richie Gobeille, Ken Keech, Nate Winer, Paul Fraser, and Bob Entwhistle made up the well balanced squad. These boys gave Coach Foley a scoring punch, something they lacked last year, and a strong defense. Ioe Ambrefe, Dick Price, Richie Gobeille, Bob Entwhistle, Don Mitchell and Ken Keech all return next year. Beverly will be among the best on the North Shore where hockey is fast becoming an outstanding sport. GOLF Coach Bob Brown's boys will be out to capture the Essex County champion- ship this year after finishing second, during the last campaign. Co-captains Bill Palm and lim Buckley will lead the linksmen again this year. The rest of the team is composed of veterans except for one position.
