This great victory provided the main theme for the Senior- Junior Prom, held june 3, 1960. State Championship challenged Bethlehem Catholics Golden Hawks throughout a spectacular 1960-61 season. Displaying Coach Calvo's excellent training, the Champs triumphed over their first five foes before Northampton beat them. Recovering, Becahi whipped Lansdale Catholic and their next three opponents, but lost to Bethlehem High. The Golden Hawks rallied their defenses and won the next six games, the most cherished triumph being their upset of Allentown Central. First half of season found Bethlehem Catholic holding the title with a 9-O Suburban League score and an over-all record of 15-2. Bishop Kenrick's Knights gave the defenders their nrst League loss to open the season's second half. Seven victories and two losses followed, bringing the league score to 15-3 and the seasonal over-all record to 22-5.
