Miss Evans Mr. Boyce Mr. Buck lliallinl Hiqli Suliuul llisimif ' lust 38 years ago, in 1908, Bethel Township High School had its beginning. The first build- ing, erected at a cost of 330382, consisted of two classrooms and an auditorium. Four teach- ers comprised the entire faculty. Previously, the School District of Bethel Township was incorporated lune 21, 1886. The first regular election named as directors: Wil- liam Woods, A. M. Wilson, Ioseph Maits, lames Hultz, and T. M. Walker. ln 1909, the first class was graduated, con- sisting of 10 girls and 5 boys, among whom were Harold Wilson, Ora Pickering, Ethel Maits LeBon, Carl Graeser, and Belle Stoltz 1-last. Enlargements to the high school building were begun in 1917. ln 1939 the major portion of the building was destroyed by fire and on the same site the present building was erected at a cost of S208840. Some of the principals of the high school from first to last were: Margie McKee, Prof. Mahle, Prof. 1-lilty, and Prof. T. M. Buck. The student body of today numbers 569 pupils, from seventh to twelfth grades, inclusive. The fac- ulty now totals 25 in the high school alone. The present school board members are: Mr. Frank H. lack, Chairman: Mr. H. Pt. Maits, Mr. William Parmaleeg Mr. A. B. Reid: Mr. G. A. Taylor, and Mr. Albert I. Preyvogel.
