DEDICATION The qualities of leadership are hard to define. To some a leader is a guide who directs and shows them the way. To others, it means the one who sets the examples and standards. For others, it means a commander who gives the orders and expects obedience. Still, some see a leader as the one who gets the glory when everything goes well, but accepts the blame when failures do occur. A good leader is a c o m b i n a t i o n of all of these. Bessemer Academy’s leader is our headmaster, Mr. Norton. He has been a guiding hand in the building of our school. We have grown from a little over 100 students and a faculty of 6 to 620 students with a faculty and staff of 27. We have moved from a temporary building to a new, permanent one. Mr. Norton requires hard work and instills in us the desire to do our best, because this is what he gives. He is stern at times, but always with just cause, and we arc all the better for it. If we fail in any way, he feels that he has personally failed us. Because of such understanding and warmth, we wish to say thank you by dedicating this, the 1974 REFLECTIONS, to 4 Mr. George Barry Norton.
