FRESHMAN CLASS Presndent Sammy Ramos Vuce Presudent Junior Adame Secretary Leota Adams Treasurer Mabel Stahlecker Student Councnl Mary Lou Velasquez Bruce Starck Junnor Adame Sponsor Mr Ball The Freshman class has twenty nine members ln October we entered a float an the Home comm Parade which won third lace The class Van Roy Bob Vnrgunua Faye and Judy were ap pointed as commuttee members nn charge of the booths ln December the Freshmen had the con cessuons at a basket ball game ln January we had a poluo drvve and collected about S20 Leota Adams was candidate for Valentme Queen FRESHMEN INITIATION The Freshmen unltaatlon was held September 25th There were the usual costumes consnstmg of nnghtgowns barrels football jerseys etc After the parade down town the Sensors began the show Truth or Conse quences was played wnth all the Freshmen havung to pay the Consequences All the Freshmen survlved the barrage of tomatoes and everyone unclud Ing the Freshmen had a good tlme FRESHMEN RECEPTION ln the gym whuch had been very colorfully and beautafully decorated by the Sophomores, 33 Freshmen were honored at an annual receptlon held for them September 26, l952 Musnc was provnded by a jute box and every one had fun dancmg The formals the gurls wore also made quite an array of color A program consnstmg of some numbers from each of the classes was presented Apple Cuder and Cooknes were served by the Jumors The welcome was guven by the Presudent of the Sensor Class, Shurley Schleuger, and the response,from the Freshmen by Sammy Ramos, Presudent . 9 i . . p D also operated two Halloween booths at the carnival.

I 'T l u ' NATIONAL ASSEMBLIES On October 3 l952 we heard a tremendous number of stars and raduo personalutues from coast to coast un the Cavalcade of Vouces Brungung us these vouces was Wulluam Ames the excellent um personator The lust uncluded commentators polu tucuans raduo and movue stars All of the vouces were very easy to recognuze and also amusung The closung number was a tap dance acquured through very unusual affects Mr Ames un a man ner of snappung hus fungers and clappung hus hands brought forth a sound exactly luke tap dancung Jana Woodrum accompanued hum On October 29 1952 at 8 30 Hal Rodman former Hollywood make up artust and NBC tele vusuon artust transformed sux B H S students unto amusung characters Robert Starck was made up furst as a grade school boy then as a college freshman and funal ly as an old man We dudn t know that Gene Ostermuller Jon Deunes Kenneth Krueger and Johnnue Nolde could sung wuth theur mouths closed but they made a fune lookung barber shop quarter Lastly and more seruously Douglas Wagner became a good umutatuon of General Robert E Lee and of Uncle Sam On Monday November l7 the Wulluams twuns Januce and Joan presented Western Serenades as well as popular and Hawauuan numbers It was one of the most unterestung Natuonal Assemblues ever to be presented un Berthoud Hugh School and everyone was very much pleased Specual numbers were deducated to Norma and Claude Kay and Duane and to Ronald Clark Accompanument was by guutars and a Hawouuan December 4 l95Z Bob Wood the brulluant young Amerucan cartoonust and entertauner pre sented Dramatuc Adventures wuth Chalk He drew several scenes and cartoons wrote some very complucated words upsude down and backwards and even showed us the future appear ances of Dale Nelson Duane Swanson Bob Brehm and Jum Reusbeck These were very amusung Al though we were several munutes late gettung out of school everyone enjoyed ut very much On February l7 l953 Mr Ellus a natuve of Java gave one of the most unterestung Natuonal As sembly programs of the year He had many unter estung thungs to show us that he had brought from Java He had the skeletons of many anumals that luve un Java The program was enuoyed by the Hugh School the Grade School and the faculty 'L l I ILx,.S ' ' C flmkf :egaf I g .- o- , I I I I , ' II Il . . . , I . . . .
